could i possibly use my cluster cover as a guide and replace my cluster with aftermarket gauges like speddo, tach, fuel, volt. because it looks funny with my pillar gauges having plain old gauges

No, sorry that is not a option on our cars

Look at what Black Cat Customs has to offer for our cars

Or look at my cardomain site...and see what mine look like

But, you could swap a Cavalier/Sunfire for a Sunfire/Cavalier if you like.

Yes, it can be done, and has been done, it is very much an option.

Not to dout you, but where, when, how, etc.

Ours is a plug n play...is it not?

He wants to take the cluster out and replace with other things...OK

But how...you tell me!....Please

Carbonfire, probably don't remember him, but he replaced all his gauges with Autometer ones. The Hated One, owner of the JDM J-Body importing company with the incredibly done up RHD JDM cavalier, has all autometer gauges. Rob Mull has all autometer gauges....

Basically, you remove the cluster, fab up a custom bracket, connect the gauges to the appropriate sensors, and go.

There were some others that did it as well, but it is far from being as simple as stated. You have to be able to bypass the theft-loc. Although that can be as simple as keeping the factory cluster in a hidden location like the pass air bag spot...

ok thats what i thought, i was gonna hide it in my spare tire well attached to a bracket and just extend the wires.

You don't need to keep the factory cluster in the car at all, it will run without it.

You DO need to leave the factory cluster connected because without it the car dies the second you start it (trust me i left the smaller connector on my cluster disconnected and my car would not run) right now I am looking for a way to trick the car into thinking its still there, it might be as simple as shorting some wires, but it also might require reprograming the computer, i dont know at this point, but i do know if you just unplug them the car wont work. I'm going to continue searching because there has to be a way but if anyone knows how to bypass this it would be greatly appreciated.

access to a tech2 was the only way for all these years & what you mentioned is the theft-loc feature. Something like the pcm or ignition control (cant remember which it is) sends a password to the cluster, the cluster confirms it & allows it to run.
