I have a 2K cavy and the cigarette lighter is in one of the most idiotic locations I have ever seen... right behind the steering wheel beside the ignition... If I have my cell phone plugged in and charging everytime I hit my wipers I knock it. Did any of the 3rd Gen J's get multiple 12V power sources? My parents Grand Prix has one on the dash and another down beside the passengers knees/shins on the center console.... Did the Sunfires ever get anything like this?

On the 95-99 Sunfire the cig. lighter was located on the center console next to the cup holder/ash tray.
I believe that on the 2002+ J's on the passenger side of the center console kind of in the foot well there is a 12volt aux port. IT's got a cap on it so u can protect it when not in use.
I don't have it in my 2000 Cavalier, but some have it in 2001 or 2002.

Now that I think about it, I do think I have seen the 12v power point on the sides of some of the newer cars. You could always just add another one somewhere.
I added 2 in my 97 -- one in the trunk, and one on the far passenger side of the underdash.
'03+ Fires should have a second one on the passenger side of the center console on the vertical part...
I think the 12V location is perfect for a engine start push button. Sorry, just got me thinkin about it.

Yeah, I know my 03 cav has one next to the ignition, and another on the passenger side of that little tray under the hvac controls. Your same year 00 sunfire only has the one you have also I believe, unless there's some kind of option for more.
Is the center console from a 2K3 swapable with the 2K cavy? anyone know?

^^yes i have a 99 and have a 2004 console in mine... just dont have the power source wired up yet...
You can buy the aux power outlets, and can wire them up. No need to swap consols. I'm going to be adding one in my trunk soon hopefully... when ever I get a day off.
