broken fuel gauge
Tuesday, June 13, 2006 7:31 AM
For the last couple of days my needle on my fuel gauge has stayed just slightly over a half tank. Well, my check gauges light came on today, and sure enough I was suckin fumes. Has anyone else had this problem. If so, please tell me it's just a wire I can solder or somethin. Hitting the dash worked for about an hour, but went back to the same spot. Thanks in advance for the help.

You could take your dash apart and see if any wires have become cut. Might be a start, its kinda drastic but its an option.

Yeah, I've already looked at it. The only thing I figure is one of the wires came loose in the harness itself. Does anyone know which color wire I need to check out. Could someone check the Haynes for me. Thanks

actually, i work at a dealership and the cavy's have a common problem with inaccurate fuel gauges. It's usually the gauge reading a 1/4 tank but you run out. I would recommend the fuel level sensor in the tank, but not a guarantee. Could be your cluster.
