Hey guys . . .
Kinda having an issue here... I bought those racing seats they sell on A+. The blue/black ones, and I have custom seat brackets on too. Well, recently my passenger side seat, is having issues staying in a "locking" position. When I'm driving, my passenger seat (always with someone in it) always just clicks really loud and it falls back like 3/4 notches. I've sat in the seat while its parked, I've put pressure on it, I've put weight on it, I've shaken it, etc and it doesn't fall back or seem to have anything wrong. Its ONLY when the car is in motion and someone is in the seat?
I found that the passenger side seatbelt mount on the floor was kinda messing with the lever, but would that really cause the seat to just launch back out of the blue?? It was lodging itself under the switch and causing the switch to stay up just a tad, but again, I sat in the seat with it like this and it still wouldn't fall back??
Are these seats known to have issues like this with the locking mechanism to fail? I remember reading about a similar issue a couple months ago, but it didn't go anywhere? Any suggestions??
It sounds like you may have found your answer already... from what you explained it seems as if the seatbelt/mount is the cause of it. When driving there may be just enough vibration to bump the reclining lever up and allow the seat to click back.
That'd be my guess since you mentioned it... and I don't think I've had anyone tell me about this type of situation.

you i know some seats are really touchy with the abjusting lever. I bet with the person wearing seat belt and the car vibrating and such the lever is moved enough for the latch to lose contact with the gear for a short time and it to slip backwards.
I was figuring it was the lever or something to do with the lever. While we were driving yesterday, he was holding the lever and he felt it slipping and trying to move, so when I found that it was proped a tad, I was figuring that could be the issue. Its the damn Cavalier design, they just HAD to put the seatbelt mount right there on the floor, lol.
I just couldn't remember if that was the issue with the other topic I remember.
I'm hoping its this lever and not a gear wearing down or something like that. These seats are really cool
