I did a search and didnt find anything but if its a repost, sorry. Im wanting to fiberglass the door armrest carpet pieces on my cavalier. Would i need to rip the carpet off of them or leave them on? i figured since its already wrapped with material it wouldn't need to be wrapped again. Also for those of you who have had them out of ur door, how did u go about doing it and getting them back in nice and snug? any input would be great. Thanks
you can leave the carpet on or take it off i dont think it makes a very big diff. I took mine off and my friend left his on they were about the same.
hope that helps
I left mine in and glassed them. Its cake.
now do u HAVE to lay fiberglass down?..Cause i hear u can just lay resin, let it dry and sand it, prime, and paint...
No you dont. Atleast i didnt. The fabric is basically absorbing the resin and making it solid. If you wanted to you could lay a layer of matting down to make it stronger but the door panel isnt really going to be beaten upon to where it needs a whole lot of strength.
well i got the piece off the door and layed the resin down..Its lookin good soo far.now its gotta dry..ill try to get some pics up soon of the progress
You should have left it on the door and glassed it instead of taking it out.....its a bitch to get back in and fit right after its glassed.
