Ok today I removed the door panels and im ready to glass them , now iam not doing anything special i just want the smooth clean glossy look, so if i wrap the panels in fabric, then cut out for door handel location and etc. , then lay the resin down then sand then body filler them up then sand and then spot putty and sand then wet sand and primer then sand again then primer and paint . Does that sound right?
if you just want the look with the stock lines, just sand them down. there is no reason to do all that work. get most of the texture off, then come back with a hi-build primer, and keep sanding. ALOT less work, and you get the same effect. the more you sand, the smoother it will be, just like fiberglass....
ya man, no need to fiberglass unless u want different form than the stock form of the panel
The thing is i wanted to get rid of the lines on the door panel that run around that fabric on the door handel piece also i was thinking about getting rid of the door pockets just covering them up
in that case, you definately want to glass.....but thats a rather large project to try for your first time. id experiment on something smaller first
No No lol this is my first time I fiberglassed my brothers 2002 jeep liberty taillights, using taillight covers and the look he wanted, I also fiberglassed a 1996 ford probe front bumber as practice it was beat up so that helped.
i didnt glass the whole panel and i did the same thing
first i drilled a ton of holes around the lines i wanted to fill then i layed a layer of FG and let it dry
second i layed some filler to make the shape i wanted and then i glassed again. im going to do one more layer of FG today so mabye i will post pics next week or something.
