I am looking to either replace the "glass" on the instrument panel of my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT or find something to get the scratches out of my current one. Does anyone out there have just the glass part of the instrument panel cluster they could sell me? Also, how do you switch it out? is it screwed in or glued on? Has anyone been able to buff scratches out before?
Try using some of the clear lense polish you can purchase at Autozone...should take out some of the lighter scratches.
And it is screwed in by a few small phillips screws in the back of the cluster...
^^actually there held in by small bolts/torx head
i check the 2 extra clusters i have.. i know one has a crack on the bottom but i dont remember what the other one is like. Ill check em when i get back later today. if u dont hear from me by tonight PM me and remind me.
this is prolly last option but go to dealer.. hell go to dealer find out how much it is.. and get the part number. Take the part number and enter it on www.gmpartsdirect.com and see how much lower their price is.. But junkyards will have em also.. just depends if theyll let u take em off a cluster..
sorry the 2 sunfire ones i had both have a crack.
thanks for checking Manta ... anyone else have one? I really need to put my dashboard back together, and all the junkyards only want to sell the whole instrument cluster not just the glass.
also, does anyone know if the cavalier ones are exactly the same as the Sunfire's? cause i found a place that has Cavalier ones for around $20, but they are too far away for me to check them out in person.
Dealer sold me a brand one for my old '96 Z24 for $12. I actually just ordered a new one, but under my buddy's discount so no idea on the price.
They should be the same but don't quote me.
