Roll Cage

I want to do a back seat delete and incorporate a roll cage into the design. I dont know much at all about cages, are they available for my specific model (02 cav, coupe). Can they be made? Is this a bad idea all together?

Woooo bubbies.

www.gravanatuning.com sells Autopower roll bars. check out the "seats and safety" section for your year

Yeah I have the Autopower 4-point cage and its really nice. It also has a nice crossbar to mount racing harnesses on the proper way.

That bar is the same thing you see for the coupes, it's the autopower bar.

autopower:

rk from A+:

theres a big difference between those two cages. and for my $$ id go with the RK one...it would look better in a convertible IMO. it looks like the cross bar is removeable too which is an added plus.

According to RK's website, they don't make a roll bar. Also, we all know how awsome they are at rebadging things as their own.

Your autopower picture is obviously generic, and not the only autopower bar available. Check autopower's website and you'll see that they have "street," "race," and "street-sport" roll bars available as well as a "u-weld" cage. You'll also see the "street-sport" roll bar is your RK bar, with a slightly different supporting arm, again because you're comparing a generic picture with the real thing. The real thing that RK Sport no longer rebadges.

i would like to see real pics of the autopower cage, as their site doesnt list any either.

but i still think that the autopower bars are different than the picture of the RK bar. heres a pic of the street-sport:

the difference im mostly concerned with is the two legs that extend into the back seat as well as the two legs that extend forward. the RK bar doesnt have them at all. it is just two legs that stand straight up.

for a convertible, this is a preferrence because 1) the rear seat is smaller and there is less room up front, due to extra reinforcements in the body. 2) it would look better standing straight up and down as compared to an upside down V, providing the look of a light bar compared with an actual roll bar.

i am looking for this to be more of an aestetic piece than performance, although having something above me in the case of roll over is a very powerful plus.

i know RK used to sell these even though they are not listed on RKs site, and i know RK is notorious for rebadging. im just not so sure that autopower is where they got their roll cages.
