What is the solinoid on the trunk latch do?? My car has no keyless entry (that I am aware of) and I can find nothing about it in the owners manual??
First off.. what year? Secondly.. assuming it's a newer model (like my 03), then the trunk release inside the car is a button which pops the solenoid as opposed to a cable release like older cars. Not having keyless has nothing to do with it.

OOPS!!! Its 2001. According to the owners manual there should be a release beside the drivers seat. Nothing is there. I have searched over the interior with no luck at finding a trunk release button.

Trunk release button for an electronic release trunk (like what you have) is going to beon the underside of the dash on the drivers side. Only the cable released trunks are going to have the latch on the floor by the drivers seat.
