Cluster Woes (help needed pls.)
Tuesday, December 19, 2006 4:27 PM
Ok so, my cluster in my 03 Cav went out (the gas and temp gauges went stupid) and after talking to an automotive electrician who said on the newer GM cars replacing it is really the best option, I decided now's the best time to go ahead and put in the Sunfire cluster I've always wanted. So I got one through our salvage parts company for $50. Installed it and the right side of the cluster wouldn't light up and the speedometer wouldn't move (it twitched, but that's it). So I called up the place and they said they'd replace it for free. It came in today so I installed it tonight after work. Everything lights up, and the speedo works... but now the odometer doesn't light up *sigh* So my question is, is that something I can swap off of the other Sunfire cluster (I still have it, the place told me to just throw it away.. yeah ok =P) or should I just call them tomorrow and get yet another cluster?

TIA

I actually don't see any way to even GET to the bulbs (or anything inside the cluster) on an 03 cluster. I took the back plate off, but it seems the needles are attatched to the circuit board.. making it impossible to get to the bulbs or anything else inside it unless you take the needles off. If I'm just being blind and not seeing how, then someone please tell me.. because I'd sure like to know how I'm supposed to replace the bulbs if they ever DO go out (provided I get a 100% working cluster that is =P)
