How hard is it to make the HVAC knobs clear? Also how hard is it to put new bulbs behind the controls?

hey man its real easy to make your knobs clear i did it and it took me like 5 min u just need to use a heat gun or blow dryer to loosen the vinyl on the knobs then just grab the vinyl and start pulling it off. it takes alot of working to get them off just keep pulling and be careful not to break the knobs...as for changing bulbs i have no clue yet to do that...hope this helps

Changing bulbs is not that hard either, just be carefull. I changed mine, and broke something and wound up needing to solder the wires onto the bulb. You will need to order special bulbs to do it though, not sure which number but if you do a search you should find it pretty easily.

You could also buy bulb covers for them. They work fairly well, and you don't have to worry about breaking the bulb.

All you need to know about your HVAC control pannel. use the search function, it does wonders. HVAC Thread it's a very simple process, unscrew the pannel. pull it out to see the back of it, unscrew the bulbs with a quater turn to the right and shabam. replace them, and re-install. on the link there is also info of making the lights brighter, different colours, clear knobs, ect....

Once you've got the HVAC out, carelfully pry the bezel off (the four tabs around the perimeter) and the light diffuser falls right out. Wrap the light diffuser in foil (shiny side IN), or shiny foil tape (used in ducting) and cut w/ a razor knife the small holes for the knobs in the back, the large holes for the knobs in the front and the holes for the bulbs in the back. Makke sure not to let the foil touch wiring. If you want, you can cut away over the arcs in the front to backlight the symbols on the face, or not. Also, the thread states that to really get the most out of the #74 LED's it is best to sand around the edge at the top of the LED to round it off so it is shaped like the bulb it replaces. Buzz, Rawk and Kardain are the authorities on LED's around here, and they are the ones who revealed these techniques to us, so If'n it works out for you, they are the guys to thank.
