will the first and second gens work in an third gen? i have an 98 auto and am looking to convert over to a 5spd, a sunfire will work to right?

I'd go with a 3rd gen setup that matches the tranny that you are pulling (for example if you are getting a tranny from a 97 2.2, get a 95-97 2.2 shifter). The clutch/brake pedal should be the same from 95+
