make 1 like i did all you need a is a welder, bench grinder, hack saw, vice, half round file and a drill, then go to auto zone and get an exhaust adaptor that your gauge fits nicely in. cut it so that its about .5 inches longer that the part of the gauge that sits in the cup. then smooth the edges using a half round file. using the scrap you cut off, cut another ring approx .5 inches wide, then cut it so it can be flattened out. using a hammer, make it flat. then cut it to the width of the cup. weld it to the cup and grind the edges flush, then youre done. will do a full write up with pics if i get at least 3 requests
many changes in the making
my favorite part about doing bodywork,.......... bondo bugers
^^^ FULL WRITE-UP REQUEST.....is that three now?
honestly, go to your local hardware store and get the fiberglass tubing for plumbing. not sure what the size was, but i would assume 2.25 outer diameter. fits the 2 and 1/16 gauges perfect. thats waht i use. very simple, and already a perfect circle to start your structure
i was at a loss when i posted for the actual term(duh, lol)
by fiberglass pieces i meant PVC, like pictured here, minus the threading
i wanna see the write up ^^^^^^^^^^
are you looking for a write up like
this?
^^^thats not a bad write-up, but personally, i would tuck the fabric back instead of laying it on top of the bezel. other than that, not bad

hey,
yea i did the same thing using pvc tubing, worked real well. I just hot glued them into the bezel after i cut out the vent @!#$. Also, there is one problem with using the fiberglass matting. Fiberglass does not, will not, and never will adhere to plastic. Its very had to get a seamless edge from fiberglass going over into plastic. I used expanding foam around my pvc bezels, and then cut the foam down with a razor blade, just enough to seal everything. Then i used fiberglass strand putty (duraglass), and put a nice thick (1/2-3/4") on there. Used a 90 degree air grinder to shape it all, primer and paint. Looks real good.

well first of all, you get the glass to stick to the plastic by drilling lots of holes, and soaking glass thru it, and behind it for strength. if you didnt do this, your piece will crack out eventually. secondly, NEVER put that much duraglass or any filler in any given spot. that will also crack out eventually. may look ok for a little bity, but will definately crack over time and temp change.
