hi every one. im trying to remove my dash pad's vinyl to fiberglass it. i been using a razor blade and pulling it off and its kinda a pain and i keep cutting my self so my question is does anyone know an easier way to remove it?
well there is foam under the vynl too that u need to remove. i just kept pulling on the foam and bout 1/2 of it all came off. then i used a 4 1/2" grinder with a wire wheel on it and went over it and it took it all off.. but it did cause alot of shaking and vibrations on the dash so a few cracks in the dash formed.. so i ended up having to fix those, but that was easier then tryin to get it all off by hand.
You can also use adhesive remover to take that foam off. I used liquid AFTA on a rag, rubbed the surface down, waited a minute, then used a dry rag and it came right off.
Sam
Ban low-performance cars, not high-performance ones.
Thanks Sam im definitely going to try that.
i hope this isnt your first fiberglass job. the top dash is very tricky to do.
yea it is my first but im not to worried about it cuz i have 2 dash pads so if i mess this one up i still have my other one
.
a heat gun would be very helpful. I don't have one so i used a hairdryer. it made my job much easier.

ok just making sure though but do you know the proper steps? make sure you drill plenty of holes in the pad so the resin seeps thru and make sure you lay your layers on evenly because if you dont fill the exact amount as what the dash foam was, then there are going to be open spots all over the dash. good luck with it and i hope it doesnt warp.
How's that?
im going out tommor to get everything i need to fiberglass it.
HOLY DASH PAD BATMAN! LOL
I had to, lol. That looks like it should be enough
looks good. the resin should be able to get a hold of the dash. do your first layer then test fit it back in to make sure it didnt warp
