Whats the best way to polish your valve cover? I know RD Fabs does it for pretty cheap, but I'd like to try it myself. Anyone got any ideas, products or anything?

but i dont know how to go about doin that. ive heard you can sand it down, 320 grit, then up to 2000, then wet sand and aluminum polish
Ok I searched, thats what I got. But can anyone expand on that? Like product names, tools etc.

ummm you pretty much covered it. mothers aluminum polished worked for me. but im sure any will
Yep what they said and you said....
wet sand it the whole time is what I did from 180/400/800/2000...about 10 plus hours of hand sanding over a few days and then Mother's Aluminum Polish to top it off.

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
would that work to polish other stuff to?

I've actually used it to polish my calipers on the front and few other things in the engine bay....stuff works like a charm!

yes, this is the key. its the difference between a "kind of" good looking polish and a professional looking polish.
i can never quite get my stuff to polish out as good as my rk sport polished idi cover or the pieces ive had done professionally.
UFlip06 said it best: Just look underneath the engine and if you see big hairy balls it's a 2.4 Twin Cam, if they're shaved it's an Ecotec and if you see nothing it's a 2200!
Why is this in interior forum?
