you could make your trunk swing up n open.... ive seen it done before on some show cavs... its more like a crane it requires about half the space of the normal trunk hinges (which are a pain in the ass) and you only need the one hinge, only problem is you only have one hinge so you have to be careful... and if you put a bigger sub box in, chances are your trunk will be jumping up and down with the bass.

or go with racer style and hold it down with hood pins

or you could fab your box so your hinges swing in through the ports for the subs

or he could just buy the hinges from a convertible that are smaller and us gas struts to hold the lid open instead of the crappy ass torsion bar setup that we currently have.

The bolts for holding the convertible hinges aren't there on a coupe or sedan... so no, you can't just swap the hinges from a 'vert. You'd have to weld in the plates to bolt to...

and the vert hinges take up just as much space so no real gain there. im sure if you used a gas strut set up similar to a grand prix it could work

the vert trunk doesnt lift as high as the coupes the arms dont have the travel capability withthe struts like the coupe has with the arms. a little food for thought
