has anyone ever built a 80s style tuned 2nd gen or 2st gen? i love the way they build old skool supras and rx-7's if you dont know what im talking about let me explain from what i know....alright in the 80s mesh wheels were supposibly all the craze but ive seen a couple with stockers but they were polisdhed.. and there wasnt much companies into it yet so lots of the mods are top notch from big companies like HKS and such but iuno if its the same for cavs...anyways there wasnt very much done to the exterior the cars were built for speed...i can get pics of car i think if u need them...i just think it would be kool to have a ol skool style cavalier thanks for any pics or help

I've built one before.
you can get Sunbird GT Turbo fender flares for that wide body look. Just glass them in and it's look good.
and throw on some Diza Hurricane sides (for 2 door), a boxy front and rear bumper, mold and expand a little bit and your set.
Also the BMW 3 series (mid 90's) and Silva S13 head lights are easy to swap in and line up near perfectly.
Tail lights you can go 88-90 Cavalier 91-94 Cavalier 88-94 Sunbird (will allow you to not have a trunk mounted license plate). Or you can always go custom. The lines on the trunk are easy to match and simple to get down...
Heres a shot of my old 2nd gen. I never got to put on the Sunbird GT Turbo fender flares, but I wanted too.
Stockish looking.... (flat black, Z24 sides molded in with shaved badge, 17" chrome rims, Mesh grill, clear corners (don't know why, but they didn't last long),
BTW... I loved this look... I regreated kitting it 'cause the stockish pannels with flat black looked stellar...(IMO)
painted the inside of the turn signal housings black, removed the lenses from the corners, Started the dual scoop ram air hood (fiberglassed it),
Pic of the BMW head light swap
Its very possible to go old school, Just be creative
...
i completely understand the origional post, but stenger honestly... i dont think stick on scoops, body kits, headlight swaps, and big ugly chrome rims are old school.....
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

yeah, I hated the rims too, but they kinda went with the old school meets modern theme.... Flat black and Chrome, with a body kit.
The stick on scoops were molded on to the hood with fiberglass... However I wrecked the car and destroyed that hood and went with a Z24 fiberglass cowl hood.
When I sold it, it had the Sunbird trunk lid. Sunbird GT rims with super wide tires, and a practically destroyed front bumper. lol. Winter was hard on my car. Sunbird interior, Sunbird/Cavalier console intergrated together, and a few other odds and ends.
best part of 1rst and 2nd gens is the fact that they had V6's stock, in 90 they had the 3.1 v6 instead of the 2.8, and the v6 swap was cake. PLUS! you could alway go nuts with the 3X00 Hybrid (3100/3400/3800), factory boost (turbo or s/c), and have a clean sleeper looking car.
OR you could even go the route less traveled and do a LT3 swap. (2.0 OHC Turbo). These motors were the fastest 2nd and 1rst gen motors Stock! and Possibly (not sure) beating 3rd gens as well (off the show room floor). The pushed about 6pounds stock, and 10-12 spiked. Plus there are a few cheap mods you could do to them to gain about 3 or 4 pounds of boost (like shorting the wastegate acutator rod, and a Map bleeder valve). They were stock with a Garett T25 Turbo. (had one as a project, had to sell 'cause money was super tight)
...
thanks i was kind of worried about the engines because of the 85 speedometer lol but ill probly do a turbo swap when i get some money...ill probly get most my parts out of the junk yard so hopefully there not too much thanks for the performance help and light swap id like to do the tail light swap and maybe the head light swap or ill just clean the old ones up really nice

you'd have to ask the owener of the car, the one who originally made that post, birdboy.
The bolt pattern on f-bodies (camaros and firebirds) are a 5 x 4 3/4 or something close to that. i had the same idea when i wrecked my trans am and i had a 2nd gen j. but the bolt patterns were too big on the trans, compared to my bird.

man that sucks but good news i found rims that look identical to them but they come from a beretta...there stock on the berettas but i plan to get some and polish them
