16 year old + summer + waking up WAY to early = lots of time to kill lol

It took 4 hours just because it take ALOT of tweeking with the dremel to get the screw run lines perfect so it doesn't catch on the screw threads and its not to loose to were it is wierd feeling in your hand.

how to will come later tonight just got a call for work!

keep them coming guys

jackalope: np on the laugh and i didn't even think about it just yped it lol

ender_winggin: The intire knob pushes down

tha_prowler: already got you there! i have a picture of my f* up and how i fixed it along with the groves i made.

Kurt johnson: I dont know it if will work with any shift knob but every one that have three screws that hold it down will work with this.
it was mostly easy, much better once my cousin got there ... so two people will make it go easier. You just need ALOT of paciants!! it took me about an hour and half alone just making it PERFECT. i mean little bit with the dremel here and there reinstall find something else that it cathes on dremel some more ... etc I ran into the problem of were i have it were you dont need to push on it very hard to get it to move through the gears so it have to adjest my slide holes to get it to rise up fare enough to were i could remove the key. again just little stuff that takes so freaken long but justs you a nice outcome!

i drove around town with it and your hand just naturally rests on it. elbows on the cover to the center cousil area, and palm right on top of the shifter.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you did about 3 hours 45 minutes work more than you needed to...

Pull the console back up, at the bottom of the shifter there's two cables connected to it that go forward towards the front of the car. The one directly beneath the shifter goes to the trans, then one next to your right leg (ie closest to driver) goes to the "Lock-out" thing on the steering column. Pop it off. *Boom* no more havin' to push the button and/or put it in park to take the keys out I can shut off my engine and take the keys out no matter what gear I'm in lol. The part that sucks is when you forget to put in in neutral or park and go to start the car later, it won't if it's in gear haha.

Anyways, it looks pretty cool I had an APC or something chrome knob w/ 6 blue LED's but I hated it, so I put the stock knob back on mine

he didnt do it for that, he did it for the shorter look so he doesnt have to start at the huge auto shifter in there

Re: short shifter!
Wednesday, June 14, 2006 8:15 PM
I realize why he did it, anybody that chops an auto shifter (ie ME) does it for the same damn reason lol. But why go thru all that work, and have to slide the damn knob up and down to get ur key out?!

OMG, I just realized how that last sentence sounds...

i did it because i was bored! i know you can do that just wanted to pass time. like stated above ... 16 year old + waking up way to early = lots of time to kill.

The shifter is so addicting its calling for me to get an actual 5 spd so next project lol have a REALY maunual shifter.

thanks for the comments guys!

^ You said it yourself, you're 16 lol. As in, no manual swap. Costs like $2G+ to do a swap, and you can get a second car (I dunno, say Z24 w/ 5spd lol) for a few dollars more. Maybe even less than a swap if you look hard enough heh. Than get an authentic short shifter for it to make it more fun lol
