Thought I would share what I have been up too...
3800 Block that has been cleaned, deglazed and line honed with ARP studs for the main caps.
Stock rods with ARP studs and stock pistons (now before anyone says why didn't you go with forged I will answer you now).
![](/global/images/emoticons/ab.gif)
Of the top 12 fastest FWD 3800 (mid 9's to mid 10's) cars 6 of them run with a stock rotating assembly. If everything is setup properly and tuned correctly the stock rotating assembly is good for 600+whp. ( Good thing I just got that DHP PowerTuner for my PCM.

) Usally when one of these engines blow it is not due to rod or piston failure but something else (Usally a fueling issue that will take out the top ring land on a stock piston). You will still blow up with a forged setup the only difference is that the forged part will probably survive the explosion as the stock peace will not. I plan on doing forged rods and pistons when I redo my other block this winter but that is so I can drop down to 8.0:1compression.
Rollmaster adjustable timing set
New ZZPerformance XP camshaft (.520 intake and .536 exhaust)
and all new bearings and piston rings
I'm just waiting on a new timing chain dampener, front seal and oil pump to come in tomorrow so I can start building the engine. I'll post the pics in the performance section from start to finnish of the build up.

looks good. if i remember right u got like a 13.1 with a 3.0 pulley intercooled and had more knock then anything. if u stick with the blower and u going to get some custom headers done?

I'm watching you close. If I find time I'm doing the same thing this winter (might have to wait till next summer though).
I think I'm going to do a custom dash with 99+ Grand Am gauges though. (Get all their data from the serial data line which both the 2.4TC I have now, and the 3.8SC from the GP have in common,
I think; I'll let you all know if/how it works).

The 13.1@108 I ran was with a 3.4" pulley and before the intercooler. Then I ran a 13.0@103mph with the 3.0" pulley and intercooler but the car fell flat on it's face at 4600rpm due to a bad coil pack and two cyclinders going down. It was fixed the next day but I didn't get the chance to get back to the track so really I have no valid times for that setup. Not sure who told you I had more knock than anything cause I have never had any issues with knock at idle, cruise or WOT ever. Headers are coming sometime this summer.

Just use the gauges from a GTP, it would be much easier and could look pretty good. I don't think the two would share the same data line.

Keeping the gen 3 for this summer, I've spent enough and would like to drive the damn thing now
![](/global/images/emoticons/ae.gif)
The only other things for this year will be injectors, headers and a 2.6" pulley. This winter though I think I'm going to an MP112 with an LS1 TB and MAF. After that who knows, I think at that point though 500hp will be good enough for me.

The serial lines in the GA and GP are definitely the same (same PCM in both). And I'm 99.9% sure it's the same in the 2.4's computer too (different PCM obviously, same data line though).
What I'm not sure, is if all the data is available in the 2.4's serial stream. Specifically I'm not sure if the gas gauge will work.
Like I said, I'll try it and let everyone know if it works.
Glad to see you working on it, and keeping up updated. I love to hear about your car. Definitely one of my favorites.

i hear that LOL. im sure u seen the thread of car fires on clubgp. so dont cheap out on the o rings for the injectors. the gen 3 is really all you need, no one can seem to get into the 11s with whipple. and did a quick search, my memory is still sharp

Hey buddy, if you want a larger throttle body and such. I have my old supercharger with a 75mm Northstar TB already installed with a custom adapter plate from Dream Machines. With my new engine setup, I have no use for it, so if you want that, let me know.
PS, you might wanna install the crank before the main caps!

Yeah I have seen some pics
![](/global/images/emoticons/ac.gif)
and new o-rings for me. I haven't topped out the M90's potential just yet so no need to change now. When the time comes though I think the MP112 will work just fine
![](/global/images/emoticons/ab.gif)
Yeah in that post I did see lots of knock but it was a result of a broken part (coil pack). As soon as that was fixed it was back to 0kr at all times. I thought you were talking about it being caused by my setup, my mistake.

Hell yeah I want a larger TB and the supercharger would come in handy too for a home porting job.
![](/global/images/emoticons/ab.gif)
What do you want for it and do you have the MAF for the TB?

lol, funny guy. That was how I got it back from the machine shop, they line honed the block once the main studs were installed.
