small update on engine swap.

first off no its not in the car but its getting allot closer. heres some updated pics and a piece that i dont know what it is but i need a new one. so help a brother out and figure out what it is. on to the pics

okay guys, what is this? it came off the ecotec and its cracked and i need a new one.

does anyone know where this stuff goes???

actually i removed all the wiring because im going to work on cleaning it up. getting rid of all the loom stuff or at least as much of it as makes since and rewrapping and rerouting the wires, the wires will be wrapped in millitary grade braided loom that is fire retardant and allot nicer then split loom. also have to extend the wires to the fuse block and mount it as well as the cpu under the dash in the car.

upper motor mount piece that attaches to the motor, i pulled it off and polished it up a bit. didnt get it mirror polished cause you cant see the majority of it, but just wanted to clean it up.

got the rear bumper back on the car tonight. still have to work on the sides a bit to get the seams lining up better, they arnt bad, but i want them better.

another motor shot of some parts i cleaned up. right now im also waiting on the alternator wich is out being chrome plated and the throttle body wich is being polished as well. the motor will be cleaned tomorrow and hopefully clearcoated if everything goes well.

also worked on this piece getting it polished up a bit. it turned out pretty decent.

as for dropping the motor in that should be happening in a couple weeks actually possibly next weekend or the week after, i havnt decided on wether i want to put the motor in the car and then do the wiring, or do the wiring first and put in on the engine then in the car. if i do the wiring after the engine is in the car it will be tougher wiring it up. but i'll also be able to work on the routing of the wires and also cut the slack out of the wires to make the bay as clean as i can. im wanting to go that route but im also anxious to get things moving so we will see.

Engine in, then do the wiring.... if you have to reroute/extend/shorten any wires based on how you want them to be routed in the engine compartment, it would make a more accurate measurement.

Looks great so far

Looks good Jason... I would like to see this wiring loop that you be using. Depending on how big it is do you just use heat shink to connect the smaller and bigger sizes.

orlandomon im using a steel wool type pad then some 1500 grit then buffing wheels to shine it up then meguirs aluminum polish.

darkstars the number on it is 22670756 not sure if that is the part number or not but thasts all thats on there.

kardain i agree its just going to suck putting the harness back on afterwards but ive decided thast what im going to do.

trey i added a pic of the loom.

heres a few more pics got out there last night for a couple hours then got in a few hours today. got the parts all clear coated, now just need to wetsand the clearcoat to make it smooth and shiny again and they are ready to go into the car. anyone wanna come help??

so what do you do when u have to paint indoors in the cold. well u go to lowes, get some cheap plastic and make your own paintbooth for around 3 dollars. with my litle bullet heater pointed into the opening the area was kept at around 75 degrees

pic of the loom the wiring will be in

and i'll be contacting a few people to come down and help drop the motor in either this coming weekend or next hopefully.

wizkid its very similar to techflex. almost all of my audio wires are encased in techflex but this is tougher and more heat resistant then the techflex. i was just going to go with that but was worried about the heat so stepped up to this stuff. but not the standard stuff they sell. i wanted to make sure i was good with the heat this stuff is their stronger stuff

04ps didnt steal your idea guys have been polishing engine parts for years now
