Well im currently building my engine up and plan on shifting around 8000+ RPMS, so i have a Autometer C2 10,000RPM tach on the way... Im thinkin about mounting it in the traditional location (in the middle, just to the left of the hump from the bezel)
But if anyone has pics of their sunfire with a big tach please post them!! I want ideas, because i hate big tachs and the only reason i went with this is because i NEED it... And i have this mental image of it beeing ugly.... Prove me wrong please!

hmm... 8 grand huh... I think you should then maybe call BBC and get a custom cluster made that can go that high, or maybe order a smaller tach cause they come in smaller sizes. Just my two since. BTW I've got a sunfire, and I've had it in the car before.
What engine work do you have that allows you to make power at "8000+ RPMS"?
Sorry I don't have any pics of a monster tach to contribute.
Thank god.
Eagle Rods
Wiseco Forged pistons .020 over 8.9:1 compression
Block bored .020 over
Compcams stage 3 cams

Did you really need to post this in two different forums...

Ive always hated them as well.. But now im in a situation i dont really have a choice, and the bigger face really is a better idea for me because this thing should be pretty mean, and the bigger it is the easier to read

I didnt mean to, but i read the sticky in the photos forum after i posted that... Says to post the question in the appropriate forum. Sorry

SUNPRO AUTOZONE SPECIAL SHIFT @ 8 GRAND FTW!!!!!!
___________________________________________________________________
im planning this spring/summer to get my automatic to shift at around 7500, thats plenty enough. It's shifting at 6900 right now cause we couldnt get it to go any higher without the motor breaking up, damn stock fuel pump.
I have to agree that a big tach looks bad. It hads a sense of rice that i wouldnl't want but its your car. I like the idea of getting a custom cluster. In my opinion though a good driver should know when to shift simply by listening to the car not looking at the tach that improves racing in a lot of ways. So you really don't need a big face and if your worried about shifting at the perfect time just get a shift light.
Relying on sound alone doesnt tell you what RPM your going to shift at... And i cant go by feel because these cams will make power past the point im shifting at... So i wont have asense of power dropping off like you normally do

Hey i know it doesnt look that great, my car isnt built to look good... Everything serves its purpose... So if you dont have a pic to share please dont clutter the thread with your opinion on wether it looks good or not, or if you feel its the worst post

LoL if you didn't know you could just use a shift light that will blind the hell out of you set for 8 grand instead of having a huge tach. Like I said check out BBC gauges cause they made the fastest NA Eco car with the tach in the middle of the cluster and made it just a big as a huge tach. Thank you come again.
im thinking about getting a big clock, like you see in school classrooms and mounting it on my dash... im talking like the 15" around clocks....
you need to know when to shift, i need to know when to go for a smoke.....
btw, their ugly
15.1@90.34mph
For everyone telling me its ugly....

I already f*cking knew that, but as i said im going for functionality and not the approval of others.
But whatever

they have smaller tachs that measure out higher rpm
I have a digital gauge mounted on my dash thats the size of a regular 2 1/16" gauge. It has a digital read out of my RPMs, and has a built in shift light.

you mean BCC (blackcat customs =P) My tach is remounted in the center, but unfortunately it stops at 7 like stock. I may call alex up soon to see if he can get one programmed for a higher redline.
DON'T WORRY.. those rediculous pedals are GONE (thank god)

you don't need much. Ecos luckily didn't inherit a lot of the timing chain problems the LD9, so spinning higher rpm is easy. All i have is a patriot head and the included valvetrain and I'm spinning 7500rpm daily and my rev limiter is 7700.. and I haven't had any problems yet. As far as making power, all you need is injectors, a wideband and cams and you will make power starting at 5000rpm.. altho enhancing flow will be a big increase in power.

I honestly asked because I wanted to know he had what's needed to do so, and wasn't some newbie who had seen your video and just thought it was the cool thing to do. I know it's possible!
