So I have been meaning to paint my car for quite some time. Have I gotten there? Nah, why bother. I don't mind it being three different colors...
well, all these guys doin work to their cars, Joey Baggs, ExESIVE FIRE, raven, Full Cav Effect (stenger), Grumpy McGrumpster(BIGGSZ24), and if I didn't mention sykeeok I think he would have a fiberglass dust induced fit.
So I decided what the hell, what else do I have to do, especially being that I just moved into my new house and have nothing to do, at all..... nothing to do with the hundreds of boxes all over or the livingroom which is in need of some paint...... nothing at all....
I worked all day saturday on this thing. My driver side was all banged up from some idiot who decided that he didn't wanna sit in his parking spot for 5 more seconds to allow me to drive by. The roof was kinda krinkled from when I had the bright idea to stand on it to put my over head lighting in, in my garage at the old condo. The passenger side had a few random dents from parking lot fun.....
Ok, so I sanded the entire car with 220 grit, and sanded the bondo down with 40 and 80 grit. I figured I would primer the areas of bondo and around them along with the bumper and the fenders and then sand again with 220. Then just rattle can a flat black. NO! I'm not copying Exesive, really! I've been wanting to do that color for a couple years.... REALLY! I do, however, hope and pray that it comes out something like his!
INTERMISSION!....... Pure sex in Sandals! I'm sorry but she has gotta be the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on. The best part is I heard she lives in the house in front of the garage! Sweetness!
Sir, I brought you your drink, anything more you desire?
Are you done yet Daddy?
BACK TO WORK!
So I decided to take it out of the garage and wash it down and dry it so I could actually see what else I have to do.
OK, so thats as far as I got on saturday. Let me tell you, bondo is a bitch, sooooo much sanding. Now I know a little of what Skeeok (however you spell whatever that says) and big pappa and Baggs are going thru...... every little.
Questions, comments, criticism, and suggestions are all welcome. Tell me I am a total idiot, whatever gets you goin...
unfortuantely i cant see the pics til i get home from work, but it sounds like you got a nice little project going there. ill be checking back when i get home.
did you pop out any of the dents, or just fill over them? and are you using a block, or hand sanding?
WOW I thought you were jokin' about doin' the whole car.Props for the current progress and keep this updated!
oh and very cute girl!!

I'm just hand sanding, tho, I did stumble onto some 2x4s and I do have a nice stapler I used for putting the top on my girl's vert... Budget! Gets it done! I popped out as much as I could but damn, even some of the stupid small ones didn't wanna budge!

Nah man, I was dead serious! I just said screw it, what do i have to lose? Time and what, 50 bucks?
bondo brand filler is kind of poopy. Anything by evercoat is a lot easier to work with. It really doesn't cost much more either. I would reccomend trying that to save yourself a bit of work. The extreme rage stuff is extremely easy to sand. I think I see your using an orbital sander as well. You might want to watch out with that because you have a good chance of developing waves. Water is also something to watch out for. It can make the bondo lift, and takes quite a while to fully dry. It looks like your doing a pretty good job though. Good luck with the project.
Id gladly take an intermission if some boobies like that walked in my garage LMAO..
Good work man, keep it up.. Can't wait to see the progress.

agreed! i would definately use a block. even a 2x4 will work, just dont leave the staples exposed to the body surface(obviuosly, lol)

I completely agree but you know me, only the best that autozone carries! I'm kinda new to the area so I don't have much knowledge of the mom and pop places that actually carry the good stuff. I will definitely keep that in mind tho.
So you think it was the orbital sander that was creating all those waves I had to take out by hand? You recommend any other kind of sander or is the good ole block the other good sander?
I accidentally got some bondo on the skirts that I had sanded with 220 already and man, it didn't wanna come off for the life of it, I had to sand it off! I was actually really surprised on the holding power but I have only a small idea of what I am doing. thanks for the info!

did you place the body filler over the paint? i hope not lol. and you need some practice laying bondo it would be alot easier to sand if it wasnt so rough to start. but it looks like you have a good project going on.

actually, as long as there is a strong tooth ( more than 220 in the filler areas bud ) and the paint is factory base clear, that isnt as bad as you would think..
and evercoat FTW!
but USC makes some good products too if you are on a budget... you would never use bondo brand again...
good luck sir..
i cant wait till the day i get to sand all the black off and really finish my bodywork... end sarcasm....
oh yeah.. one last thing.. do yourself a favor and take some of that trim off... or at least mask it off, it will make your life sooooo much easier

I got the nitrous line, thanks bro! I have no idea what I will use it for but I will find something. Did you try to JB weld 900 psi turn fittings? Silly silly boy.
I did sand the paint down with 40 grit before I put the bondo on
Looks like a lot of manual labor is the only way to get the bondo smooth and flat, at least I wasn't goin about it all wrong. I have noticed that there are a couple more spots to do so I will get to use your suggestions.
Exesive-
I did notice that you took some of your molding off, I was planning to follow suit.
I never realized bondo was such a low end filler, I knew it wasn't the best but damn, you guys make it out to be the plague! I am gonna have 2 find the other stuff asap!
Yes, I have nudes but she is PR which would equal death for me, and I am liking life right about now.
the other stuff is just waaaaay lighter and a lot easier to sand...
pick up a can of cheap ass flat black as well... as you are getting to your finish sanding mist it over your filler... it will help find all the low spots...
and your hand is your best friend... if you cant see a wave, but you can feel it... its still there
now mind you i still have a lot of work to do, but hey its easier to tell you how to do it, then for me to do it.. LOL

My hand has been my best friend since I was like six dude, I'm no foo, they don't don't me wrong..... Except that one time I had poison ivy.... that kinda sucked
Seriously tho, I did notice that when it looked good, it felt like crap. I continued to work at it and when it felt better, thats when I chilled.
I didn't think it was gonna be this much work but the more I look at it the more it needs more work. I looked at it today when i was gettin my lawn mower out and yup, I just shook my head and thought about the long days ahead. I don't understand how you guys who built the wide bodies do it. I would have given up. Tho, I'm also using what I hear is sub-par filler which I didn't realize has such a stigma to it.
I have NY plates cause I am from upstate new york and don't wanna pay Connecticut car tax and if I don't drive them in NY then I don't have to get them inspected either. Thats my logic. I do frequent NY quite often tho. Where you at Baggs? I'm living in Newington which is two hours from Poughkeepsie/Kingston area, where I grew up.
Jb weld? Why yes I did. They said it was stronger than steel,WRONG!

you should've brought that thing over man! you could've used my air board! would've had that thing smooth in a jiffy. then tabby could've served me a drink too! lmao that reminds me, i need to get a faster computer so i can update my thread too. it's only been like 2 weeks lol
i'll text you later to talk to you about driving to the bash. i'm planning to leave thursday. idk when you are.
p.s.-you suck at laying bondo......and bondo brand just....well.....sucks.
i used bondo all the time starting out because like it is for most people its easy to run to the store and grab some. you think that theres not much diffrence, then
one day i found some rage gold locally and figured i'd try it out. and man is there a worlds diffrence. its like trying to whittle a piece of oak versus whittling balsa wood
just so much quicker and easier. esp if you have allot to sand.
