I was gonna wait until I got to the Bash to really start taking pictures.... but I never quite got there. After finally meeting up with PJ and the NJ crew after playing phone tag all morning we were set to roll out on the last couple hundred miles together. Little did we know that my motor would fail as soon as we pulled out of the rest stop.
So, we pull out of the rest stop, I'm tailing them and we get up to speed with traffic and my car starts smoking like a chimney and missing like crazy. Luckily they noticed and started to pull over just as I lost power and the car stalled... barely able to coast off the highway. Got out, took a look, determined it was too much to fix on the side of the road, and parted ways. I was escorted off the highway by Turnpike workers, luckily we were literally right in front of an exit. The car managed to limp to a hotel parking lot right on the other side of the tollbooths which is where I sat from 9am 'till about 3pm waiting for a tow. It took that long because I called a tow company that was local to me, so I had to wait for them to get free and then drive 200 miles to pick me up. Anyway, on to the pictures:
This is what the engine bay looked like, appeared to be oil all over the engine bay but it didn't feel like oil.
This is all the farther I made it off of the highway...
Then getting loaded up on the tow.
As for the motor, haven't taken a look at it yet. I already put down the money for a brand new LD9 and hope to have it in by next week.
Wow man, sorry to hear that...

ouch, how much did that tow run ya?
Ouch man..... I'm really sorry that things went south for you. I wish we could have helped more but she blew up pretty good.
To those who didn't get to witness-- After we pulled over me and PJ ran over to check out the car, thinking that it was probably clutch fluid since Zeke had just bled the clutch back at the rest stop. It even smelled and felt like clutch fluid (no mild fuel smell to it like oil normally has, and that strange slimey feeling that brake fluid has), but then we checked both reservoirs and checked for leaks and everything was full. I had Zeke start her up, and it was missing like crazy and starting to tap a bit, I blipped the throttle a little from under the hood, and oil started squirting from the breather filter. That was when we realized there wasn't going to be anything we could do to get him to Ohio. It sucked and I felt like crap for leaving him behind, but we made sure he had a Turnpike Authority escort and went on our way. Good luck with the new motor dude!
