Think of it this way.YOur set-up is so nice that they wanted to steal it.
Or just sue the pants off them for one of their o so fancy turbo kits.
Rememeber kids... spell check is your friend
Yeah, i found it in Google Images with the keywords "Godspeed Wastegate" looking for a picture of one installed, when i saw it i thought "wow that looks like jazer's car" and sure enough it was.
The best part of the whole thing, is how they claim this kit, will give you 290hp at the crank.
"This turbo kit bumps peak power to 290 crank hp and 280 crank ftlbs torque on 93 octane pump gas."
Im sure
Oh WTH, this is the email I sent em:
Quote:
I am contacting you because you used a picture of my vehicle to promote your products without permission. I did not use your kit therefor I would prefer that my car was not used as an example. I worked hard to piece together my own kit.
Here is a link:

I ask that you remove it immediately.
If I find it has not been removed expect a complaint to be filed with the Better Business Bureau.
Had you contacted me prior to posting this image, this would not be an issue.
If I don't hear back from them very soon Ill contact them in means beyond email. It's flattering and all but I don't want my hard work compared to a knock off kit that doesn't even have matching components, lol.
^^ And I forgot to tell them that TECHNICALLY if they are using my vehicle for advertisement.... wheres my cut?
unfortunately i don't think there's much you can do jess =\
good luck tho
Wow interesting. I am curious to see how this turns out. Keep in mind it could be possible that they stumbled accross the picture being used by some other company or found it posted somewhere else on the internet and had no way to track down the owner of the pic to ask for permission. I would be more worried about being associated with them than the fact they used my pic but that is just me. Either way it is still wrong. Good luck with it and keep us posted.
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
Right, I mean if there isn't much I can do there isn't, but either way it is my car and I have the right to ask them to remove it at the very least... and the main reason is because I did not buy a kit, I never would buy a kit, and not one of those components match the build that I pieced together.... therefor I do not want to be linked to it.
At least give me compensation for using my vehicle as an advertisement!
any of those hosted on imageshack or photobucket? if so, they are free game.
That's funny @!#$ right there.
I hope no moron buys that Ebay kit instead of the (good) Hahn stage 1 kit... at almost the same price...
Project car bought one of those Ebay kits, ten bucks says the next Project Car issue will have something to the lines of "Ebay: Buyer Beware..."

Or some free setups for your friends?
lol I've never heard free game so many times at once
Either way from what I've been hearing it doesn't matter it comes down to the fact that its my vehicle and I have the right to have them remove it... not only that its TECHNICALLY false advertisement on their part...
From what someone told me, hes pretty sure that the internet copyright law states something like if u are using something as profit without consent charges can be pressed... im trying to find more information on it.
Im pretty sure your friend is right Jazer.. Also, sin ce you say you used no parts that are in teh kit theyre selling, would it not also be false advertising?

thats what i was thinking ^^
You might want to consider this, put some type of watermark on your pictures that can only be seen when the picture is highlighted. I know that is what Darkstars does to his photos so nobody can use them. But, you are correct, it is false advertisement on their behalf. Best of luck to you

False advertisement, they can NOT use that picture without permission because of that. There have been plenty members over the years here on the org where companies have used their pics for something.. The org member would email them asking to take it off and most cases the images were removed.
Im going to email them asking if I can see dyno sheels of there "290" HP lol.. I dont expect an email back.

dubduce - thats a good idea maybe i will start doing that..
datwhitecavy - good luck definitely post what they say if the reply.
I still haven't heard back from them, ill give them till this afternoon for an email reply and if i don't hear back from them im going to give them a call.
Thats a 2200 engine with turbo, not a 2.2OHV like they specify, totally off. Ebay $1000 turbo kit for $3000, that's crazy. Hell the turbo kit cost more then our cavaliers/sunfires.
Well I asked them for proof and dynosheets for that specific kit lol..

hey dont feel bad, a company on THIS website used pics of my trunk lid for a group purchase without asking permission and when i got a little heated with them about it, it was all my fault and they made it look like i was a major **** for even mentioning it was MY pictures of MY part.
but, in the end they mentioned the pictures and trunk lid belonged to me. i guess better late then never eh?
i still fail to see the big deal why people complain about this.

Because it's not legal and there's possibility of profit loss for the owners of the images, due to the fact that they should be paying or have paid for the ability to use it....or at the very least asked permission, but since the kit has nothing at all to do with what is actually on the engine, it's hands down false advertising anyway.
