Painted my Handles
Sunday, June 15, 2008 9:44 PM
Did it tonight after work..I left them on, taped/newspapered, and sanded them with some 2000 grit for a few minutes each, wiped them down with alcohol, and proceeded to spray, the same way I did my mirrors.

Really, really happy with the results, for the 2 hours it took, I wish I would have done it a long time ago! Feel free to make jokes at my expense.

Nooo..I use this

http://www.marketelf.com/product_image.ashx?mode=large&id_product_image=3215

Perfect color match, and if you do it right, amazing results

If I didn't say anything, I imagine most of you (myself included) they were done professionally at a paint/body shop.

Total cost was...about $9 for paint and clear, had the tape, sand paper and newspaper

matching spraypaint for the win!! i used krylon white satin on my handles and mirrors... if i get ballsy enough, or desperate... i may attempt to do some touch-up-ing.

how many coats did you do of the Duplicolour (yes I am Canadian, hence the "u") paint match and clear coat did you do? Did u paint the backside of the handles or are they still black?

lol, looks good, kinda ballsy. I think I would have just taken it off tho. Its not that hard, just a couple of rivets and the interior panel.

holy hell, best results ive ever seen with a spray can.

amazing work, makes me kinda want to just go out and do mine now. i would never use spray paint though, no matter how good i think i could get them to come out.

that looks amazing considering you sanded with 2000 grit and paint usually doesnt like to stick to something that slick.

Good job

Wow, those handles look really good. I really need to do this to mine as well.

I am shocked at how good that looks. My only worry is that you sanded them too smooth and you made no mention of using adhesion promoter which is always a good idea with plastic.

I am surprised you just painted over the "Sunfire" wording instead of just taking it off! Although the handles look great!

I did about 5 thin coats on each side, Clear wise, I used Krylon gloss..Did'nt do the back so much, as I, nor really anyone else will see them..I sat on the ground and shot "up" to get the edge, and some of the backsides.

Thanks! AZNCav did them without taking them off, and they look great..so I went for it..Took me about 20 mins to get the tape "perfect".

Thanks man, also means alot coming from you..The car was $200 in October, only needing a exaust...it needs some body work, but I'm not too worried about it..This is my daily driver, won't ever be a show winner. I do love it, none the less..That being said..I trust the rattle can

[quote=Carbon TRD™]nice job shaun they look relly good! did you get a hood yet

Thanks man..It stuck fairly well, no signs of anything bad with two solid days of driving

Do you mean the ones on my doors? They came like that..Car is a 95, not sure if they came OEM like that, but when I got the car only 7 months ago, thats how it was..I have seen others with grey "sunfire" badging..Not really sure to be honest...From my perspective, they came that way from the factory..I could be wrong.

Thanks again for all the positive feedback guys!!! I appriciate it

Looks great considering how it was done. I've never seen rattle can turn out THAT good! Nice work.
