winter project
Wednesday, February 04, 2009 7:21 PM
I've decided to haul out my interior and do a bit of fiberglassing and smooth everything out. My plans are to have a nice clean look and something not to flashy. I'm making a dual gauge pod in the center of the dash and a pod in each door pannel for a speaker, and tweeters mounted where the side mirror switch used to be. As for color i'm undecided yet... but there is for sure gonna be alot of black ..... Anyone have any suggestions for a second color??

Here are some progress pics so far>>>>>>>>>>>>>

......Updates to come......

comments and suggestion please!!!

it all depends on what you will do with the remaining interior
(carpet etc)
If you are swapping seats and carpet etc to black I would say go with gunmetal as the other color
Dupli color makes a really good one, in spray bombs, although it is meant for rims
it works really well

well i'm no pro
but I would say that as long as you make it smooth flowing from the speaker pod into the nearby area of the door panel
you should be good
if you are wanting a completely smooth look, all you have to do is sand the panel
and the 'leather' effect/look whatever you want to call it, will go away.

So are you going to go with my gunmetal silver???

Oh and here are some links for you to check out, about overhauling the interior:

Here is a link for How to fiberglass etc
it should answer most of your other questions

As for the painting itself
here is the other how to

make sure the door closes with the pod on the panel.

It gets REALLY close when you mount them there

Gun metal and black equals gorgeous

So you never did answer the question, what will you be doing with the rest of the interior?
Painting the rear panels, new seats... What?

Re: winter project

rear pannels will be painted black and i might put some speakers in them. Headliner is gonna be died black and the carpet will be changed to black too. And i might jsut try and get some black seat covers for the time being untill i can afford the rest( i want to get a couple of racing seats and a wheel, but i have no idea what to do with that hidious back seat)...... oh and the fiberglassing begins tomorrow hopefully if all goes well

Well make sure you are well read through the How to, and go for it
Take your time and don't use too much Fiberglass, as It is a pain in thee a$$ to sand.
Definitely go with the Gun metal too.
