My 2004 Cavalier

Well here it is. few changes this year. got the trans swapped in sunday so that is ready to go. just waiting for my turbo to show up and then the car is about ready to come out of the shop. waiting on my intake manifold and some valvetrain so i can utilize the cams in the car. gotta break the clutch in first before they go in so i have a broke in car before i get my tune. also added and took out a few things. so here go the pics.

first up for viewing is the front bumper. i decided to change it up some and its following the lines of the new evo. i plan to wrap the lip still in cf some time but this will do for now. the paint was flaking off so they warrantied it and i had the black done. overall i like how it turned out.

how the car sits now...

which leads me to my next addition,

hella supertones. 118db @ 6m. my stock horn crapped out on me and i liked having a horn just because so i got these. they are obnoxiously loud. i love them haha.

then i had a little exhaust leak last year as some of you saw at the bash. i gained 20hp just by the exhaust leak sealing up because the manifold got hot. and here is the culprit.

the fix...

and i had this planed to get it flat and smooth again.

then there was this nice replacement. so the ttr one is for sale, make an offer.

and to stop the car i got these.

with a sweet stamp on them...yay for cryo treated rotors!

and this looks like this because there was some excessive shaft play for the turbo so i sent it off to be rebuilt and it comes back with a 12 month warranty and 12,000 mile warranty. so i anxious to see how it turns out with this company.

as usual, comments concerns, criticism.

I'm on the fence about the bumper. I think I'll like it once it's on the car but then again, it'll have a big sexy intercooler behind it. When it is time for wheels, what are your plans?

I had something really funny to put here but it was too long.

This thread has inspired me to wire up some aftermarket horns on my Z24. The factory ones started getting iffy years ago and have been dead for some time now...

If you want a better gasket for the manifold Vince, buy the thick copper ones pacesetter has for our cars. That's what I bought

Looking good Vince, cant wait to see how it all turns out. Though I think with the black on your bumper the wheels would look good black to match. And damn, didnt realize the lzm mount was that much smaller! Def gona pick one of those up, size matters alot with me

Oh btw, I havnt had any spike problems with that wg though havnt realy tried it much. I need to grab a smaller spring though, you didnt tell me it was a 9lb haha. One thing I noticed that the vacume fitting was soo tight it was digging into the large valve on the inside and actualy cut into it, left a groove in the bottom of the fitting.Maybe that could have caused a problem? I just put a washer with it so it wouldnt tighten in as far. You can pm me if you wana talk more about this.

yeah i love the horns. a few subie guys around me have them and seemed like the best thing to use for the price. well worth what i paid.

and i think the bumper will tie in really well. as for a big sexy intercooler, its black too so its going to be prett sneaky still i hope.

as for wheels ive been looking at a TON of them but funds are all going to getting the car on the road correctly and safely. i like the OZ Crono HT in black but they dont offer it for our car. or bremmer kraft br 01, or the kazera kz-k in CF, but thats way too expensive im sure haha. i do like a nice dark bronze on there too. but im sure the next set will be a black/ graphite, maybe a color matched lip to the car...

and get the horns! $70 from amazon.com haha

and ill look into the gasket if this one fails, i had it shaved down some to give it a nice flat surface again. so i hope it solves it. if not ill shave a little more and then upgrade to the copper gasket. thanks for the info!

yes yes, you do know a way it can get better and it probably will eventually haha.

and im glad the wastegate works for you, maybe it was just something else on my car i dont know about. good luck with it and i hope it lasts you a long time. and shoot i forgot to tell you i guess. i have the other springs if you need them.... sorry, completely forgot about that haha.

the only other thing i might do is drill some holes in the stock hood for the pins and drive around with that some times haha. add to the sleeper look lol. not sure the charge pipes will clear though. so far im selling the stock hood. i have no need for it. turbo should be at the company tomorrow and they told me it could be up to a week turn around for it so im patiently waiting...

and thanks from both of you.

i figured you got the horns so you could get to a fire easier or something.... lol

sucks that brand new turbo crapped out... any explanation as to why?

as usual vince... car is coming along nicely. front bumper is going to look a ton better. did the body shop also fix all the chip issues on the side skirts?

nah i clocked the stock horn for the charge pipe to go past it and it filled with rain and dirt and just died. used these as a replacement because i have heard them before and love them.

as for the turbo crapping out, im going with pcv issue. i didnt fix it and was boosting the car a lot full out knowing i shoudlnt but i did anyway. it should arrive at their shop tomorrow and be on its way back at the end of the week

the only did the front because it was flaking off due to them maybe not scuffing enough. it was just flaking off. the sides are from me driving up my driveway. or just road driving, my razzi did it and so do these. ill get these painted again im sure but i know it wont last. maybe try some professional rock guard film on them next time. im excited to get the front on too!
