jesus thats a lot of welds.
too many places for failure man.
thought you said it was 2.5" all the way through? that section after the downpipe in between it and the resonator looks 2.25"
i respect the work though. not everyone can weld, let alone fabricate an entire exhaust. good work.
Every time I scream "Release", I mean it, you know it. I feel the day. Black 7.
Nice, any sound clips or dyno numbers yet?
We need to go for a ride .. lol
The amount of welds certainly could have been cut down I'm sure, but like the section directly after the resonator I had to extend because the straight end on the end of the U pipe was not long enough to get it all the way back there and a cut and weld on a straight section is easier than one on a bend.
Z yaa, The section your looking at is actually a bushing that is 2.5" ID to 2.75" ID. That was done because that portion of the exhaust was welded with my cheap flux core welder at home and I chose the 3 bolt flanges based on availability of the gaskets and the flanges themselves. (Not to mention those are the only 3 bolt flanges napa stocks anywhere near 2.5" pipe that I could find. So basically I had to get a bushing on the end of that flange and weld them together then weld the bushing onto the rest of the downpipe. ITs all 2.5" its just that small section that is actually closer to 2.75" Thats all :-) Thanks for the comments though!
I moved down to Carbondale Illinois this past saturday so things were crazy leading up to and through this week getting everything set up. No dyno numbers, soon guys soon.
But again thanks for the comments, this was my first time doing any kind of exhaust fabrication minus the downpipe and WG dump tube so I dont think it turned out too bad...
and after a week of driving...no leaks!
Yes phil, we do...haha Ill let you know when I'm back your way.

Looks great to me, you still didn't say if it sounds good or not though.
Welds are a little rough and there are alot, but I understand them though to get fitment perfect. What type of mig you using? Gas makes everything sooo much better
Good job though, sounds like you didnt pay much and it works good. Would love to hear a clip!
I'll have to get a cruising clip soon and a boost clip tonight then for you guys, once my roommates are down here and i have someone to hold the cam I'll do a quick flyby. The trouble is getting somewhere to do it safely and easily, she gets up to 60 mighty quick :-)
I do like it though, its a touch louder than the magnaflows, obviously since its going up from 2.25" to catless with 2.5" there is a more noticible interior resonance but it was not annoying or even hardly apparent on the way down here (6 hours at 70mph down I57 from joliet to carbondale) But yea, I would say I definitely love it :-)
