All-Motor Ecotec Dyno Video

Well got the car dyno'ed on the weekend and put down...

145whp
148wtq

My AFR is alot higher than I would like it, turns out my LC1 isn't reading my AFR properly (gauge shows 12.7-13.0 under WOT) so its tuned to a higher AFR than I would like.

All mods are listed in my Reg, tuned to 13.5 AFR (apparently) with around 30.5 degrees max timming advance, no knock.

PS. The car is very loud because I had my exhaust Cut-Out open for the pulls.

wtf? thats it? 145whp? you've got to be kidding me.

what is the elevation at you're track? i cannot believe you ran a 14.4 with that amount of power. idc how light the car was that is just nuts.

Sticky Tires FTW!

If you have a hard time believing that, try this...my buddy Paul ran a best of 14.5 @ 90mph this year and his car put down 132whp on the weekend

Forgot to add, Track elevation is approximately 600 ft above sea level.

driver mod + lightweight = FTW

well now.... 600 is pretty damn good.

the track paul's times were ran at is 1372.

not saying that is why is ran so well, just saying it helps.

The dyno I went to is in the same general area, so at the race track my car is making 145whp.

If I dyno'ed my car at 3000ft above sea level and it made 145whp, it would still run the same time at a track that was also at the same elevation.

Understand what I mean?

Thanks for the comments guys!

Hmmm we have almost the same exact mods except for some suspension stuff and the le5 intake mani oh and of course the lsd. My home track is below sea level looks like I'm going to have to get to the dyno and track. Very nice times, its keeps my n/a dreams alive.

You time is very close to mine and I have 190whp and 187wtq. Comparing slips:

Mine

R/T ... .624
60' ... 2.033
330 ... 5.979
1/8 ... 9.216
MPH ... 77.05
1000 ... 11.902
1/4 ... 14.328
MPH ... 96.15

Yours

R/T.... .2299
60' ... 2.0021
330 ... 6.0591
1/8 ... 9.3530
MPH ... 75.51
1000 ...
1/4 ... 14.4891
MPH ... 95.71

There is a guy at my track who is running a civic hatch with 165whp and he runs anywhere between 13.8 and 14.2. It just boggles my mind how some cars run so well with little horsepower.

Its all weight civic hatch literally way nothing gutted, not to mention the driver is a huge part of the equation.

Yes, sticky tires + lightweight + driver mod = quick times.

I think the motor had more in it, I think I might of went a bit to far with the tune and lost some power, lots of cobalt guys are making around 160whp with the exact same setup.

Back to the drawing board for next season!!

yes. the numbers are pretty low.

there are plenty of other j-bodies here with 150+whp that are running the same or slower.

I must confess... I feel like a monster!

Very impressive.

This car is quick, I can vouch.

That is what i was thinking you had for power, about 160ish

What's your afr again 13.5? I would look into richening it up slightly your cyclinder might be getting hot. Trying richening and and see what it does.

The power dropped off more than i'd expect after 6k RPM. The crate engine depot dyno show a flatter power curve to 7krpm. Granted that was on a MAF fueled cobalt, but we should be able to achieve the same results with tuning. Did you get to do any tuning in between pulls? 30.5* sounds high for the bottom right of the map, but i could be wrong.

oldskool - I was a little disapointed about the the power curve drop off as well...this could be due to tuning tho. I didn't do any tuning between the pulls, it was a just a local dyno day.

30.5* is alot of timing, I thinking it might be too much way to much timing, I believe stock max timing is around 21-22? So I'm up almost 10 degrees over stock. Funny thing is even with the AFR being so high and that much timing I still don't get any knock.

I'm definitly going to rent some dyno time for next season and get this thing dialed in with the new winter mods.

I would do that but, then I would only run high 14's with bolt-on's
