So I finally got the turbo done and the car back running, well for a few hours anyway. I got the car to the painters to fix where the battery tray used to be. He still has to go back over it since this was a rush job. He fit me in and was working on it at night two days before the show. I actually picked the car up and hour before I left for the show. So we still have some areas to work on. But here’s the pics of the car from the show.

And unfortunately this was how the car went the last 30 miles to get home. Same transmission issues are back. And im pretty pissed off about it.

I love this car. I really like the trunk layout. I think this is the first time I've seen it. Your show display looked cool with the hood off. Thats a bummer about the tranny. Good luck getting it back on the road. That car makes getting towed look stylish.

With the exact same thing happening again. Could it possibly be an electrical issue causing the transmission to go out on you?

This is the best example of all examples on how to do a show car.
The detailing, the quality, the thought process, the originality just amazes me to no extent.
For any “show goe’r” this car is truly an inspiration.
Glad to see you’re driving it… sucks to see you didn’t drive it a full trip.
I also noticed your strut mounts chambered like mine did! I believe OEM has a mount that will correct this.
I’ve personally seen them in Darren Phewes’s car, and they look pretty solid. I’m just waiting to see how they react under use.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed. Looks great Jay.

Btw, that blue from the car looks freakin SWEET against the snow! You should do a snow shoot, I bet it would be hawwt!!

my god that is the sexiest engine bay EVER!! the fire graphics where the battery tray was almost looks like a water effect as well, pretty amazing car all around!!!

The only known problem is the oil pan is dented from me when I moved it around the garage. It has been sitting for about two years.

1999 2.4L w/ nitrous

thanks guys, im starting to lean towards the ecu now as far as the transmission issues. it has a second trans in it with around 50k miles. the first one only had 22k miles. it has a brand new torque converter in it. im wondering if the ecu is just sending bad signals to the transmission maybe. downside is right now i dont want to spend money for a new ecu then another 100 bucks to retune another ecu if thats not the problem. wiring could be an issue but id think it would happen and then be fine, where this was just driving fine then just got worse really quick. im just not great at troubleshooting, that was why i just bought a new trans i figured that would fix the issue. but id apparently didn't.


DAVID we won our class woo hoo hard to lose when im the only one ever in it. they rejudged it again sat. so i know we were up for outstanding sport compact which was what i was hoping to win. but a pt cruiser got it. i dont know i didnt even think he would have been in the running for it, his car was clean. but didnt seem to match up.

MATT yeah my washers are stating to bow and think the rubber is giving way. i'll eventually have to do something. might have to break down and buy the oem mounts. just after anthony's issues with his mounts i wasn't super happy with oem. i dont know, i'll see.

Front to back your car looks amazing! I really dig that trunk set up, and under the hood well what can be said besides wow. Your car is a work of art. Sucks about the tranny issues though. Just an amazing creation you have there. I can look at those pics all day long.

john, you lost me on the rewrite. this issue with the trans has happened twice before the tune was ever on the car. though it was just like a one time deal. so i dont think the tune had anything to do with it.
