so i decided to do this the right way, i bought a used H.O IDI cover from and q4f member, it was spray painted blue when i got it, so i sanded it down with 80 grit then, 220, 400, then 800. then i used a red sfuff pad from 3m to prep it for sealer
this was how it was when i got it
this is after i sanded the raised parts
this is after black sealer
this is after 3 coats of red with no clear
this is after 2 coats of clear
this is after i sanded all the raised parts again, i just used a orbital sander very carfully, with 400gr to strip the paint, then i used, 600, 800, 1500, then i used a grey 3m scuff pad to scuff the whole thing to prepare it for clear
set up for the final clear
After two coats of clear
and thats pretty much the finished product, sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, it looks really good in person,
if it can't win a race it better win a show
looks GREAT!
would love to see larger pics though....
All I want... is a little of the good life
wow, good work, came out way better than the IDI cover i did last year
