I am 15 and just bought a 1998 Cavalier Z24 5 speed. I was wondering what years the cavys had "ecotec" engines that everyone seems to talk about on here. thanks alot
Ecotec is in the 02 and up cavaliers/sunfires, i believe.

welcome....how many miles does ur car have on it?
The car is absolutly mint with not a scratch on it or a fleck of dust on the engine. I has 137,000 miles I believe but I test drove it and everything works great. Pretty soon I am gonna add an intake and keep the outside stock and keep it clean.

wait a second... i see a scratch!!!!!!!
Good buy .. drive it carefully .. don't dump the clutch to much or you will loose the Diff. Watch the water and water temp @ all times .. if you think you need a water pump most likely you do .. then replace everything that needs to come off to do the water pump .. thats my advice ..
and oh .. I wish my car looked that cleaned again ..

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.

we will see. once people start having problems with the water pump and what not like some have with the 2.4, then we will see how great this Eco is
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
I had 66k on mine and thought I had a water pump issue but it was actually still good when it was pulled it out, so I dont think many will have those issues, also the 2005 engines have a different design which I now have in mine, and I strongly doubt there is many out there that have the type mileage and abuse mine has taken. I have literally beat the crap out of the car since I got it and its been wrecked 2 times and it still hauls ass. Only stock part that has failed was the throwout bearing at 60k, most likely from 120+ passes and numerous street expeditions of acceleration

What temp do your cars run at after driving them for a few minutes, mine sits right in the middle of the gauge
Yeah it should stay right in the middle. The ONLY time mine ever moved in 6 years was when I had a pinhole leak in my radiator and all of my antifreeze ran out.

yeah, the only time my temp. gauge moved was when my water pump went out! lol!
the only time mine has changed was when my thermostat and fan relay switch stopped working.
which was like a month ago. and now it needs a new head gasket. i've only been able to drive it once in the last month. i miss my cavi.
