I, hereby solidify my status as a new guy to the arena with some questions that you have all prolly heard a million plus times.
1.) What exactly does a tune-up consist of on a fuel injected engine?
Is it basically the same concept as a carborated tune up?
( Forgive my ignorance, I grew up playing with carborated V-8s)
2.) How would one time an Injected Engine?
There is no distributor to adjust... Is it a computer program or something?
3.) With a fully bored out engine to and over sized 0.4 Bore, high compression pistons, over sized valves by +1mm, Full Boost, ect, ect. What kind of horsepower can be expected / What have people obtained? (At wheels)
1. Fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires (if so equipped), air filter. Nothing major.
2. All done by computer, you could buy an MSD DIS-2 if you wanted to adjust your spark timing.
3. I hope you mean .040 bore
. You need to further qualify that, like what compression, what boost, what turbo, what exhaust, etc. Normally you don't raise your compression and add boost because you are just looking for trouble, you would want to lower it so you can run more boost and more power. You don't have enough information there to say. I can say, however, that the best anybody has gotten (and proved it) on a streetable 2.4L motor, is 410hp to the wheels. That was through a lot of tuning, time, design, and more importantly, money.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
1) dont know. maybe cleaning injectors, replacing plugs, etc etc....the usual
2) have no idea, mines mostly stock
3) i wouldnt bore anything .4- maybe .04, but .4 will kill your motor. that aside, if you are going for boost, you want lower compression. what do you mean by full boost? full boost is different on each car. Adler (pretty sure its adler) is running a 2200 motor pushing roughly 250hp at the wheels with 13psi of boost. mike karas had a 2.4 which pushed 410 to the wheels, but i think he was running over 30psi of boost, but im not sure.
do yourself a favor, read all the FAQ's in the forums, they will help you out a lot

Yeah, admittedly I have alot to learn about these new fangled injected engines...
That is funny because I am 21. Where would one pick up one of those MSD DIS-2 thingies?
I would imagine that if you were planning to gut an engine and say, put in a new crank with new pistons you would have to have one of those, unless a shop did it, right? I mean that would seriously screw the timing over...
Also, looking at the engine bay, is there enough room the get the motor out around the tranny with out pivoting or other acrobatics? Doesn't look like much in there...
I also did try looking in the FAQs but there wasn't a whole lot of information on timing... I realized the error of the boost statements and the .4 bore. Thanks Guys for entertaining a new guy!
With you having a 2.4 LD9 there are a few things you really need to take care of before you boost.
Yes its is a time consuming ordeal to get the 2.4 out of a J. Best thing I could suggest if its gonna be off the road why you do the rebuild, I would drop the tranny and engine in 1 unit. you can unbolt the motor carriage from under neith and rol it out that way. just gotta get the car up high enough.
While you inside the engine, find on here (the .org do a search) for making a new rod bearing #3 oil path. This rod bearing has very little oil flow and needs to be corrected before you really mod the internals.
Check for the 2.3 oil pump conversion, and get rid of the balance shafts (also seachable on this forum)
You can get alot of the stuff you need (forged internals and what not) from Carcustoms.net and rksport.com just to name 2. I prefer the first but everyone has their own opinion.

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.
