How do I change the color of the HVAC lighting? A few people have mentioned "clear knobs"... Do you buy them that way or can you do it youself? I have seen pictures of them with blue backlighting and it looks very cool...
I'll think of something cool eventually...
...or maybe not...
you take the ones you have now and just take the rubber off of them. then some people paint them to a color they like or just leave them clear

OK... At the risk of revealing how stupid I truly am (my wife will attest to this)- How do I do that? What runbber are you talking about?

Use a heat gun or blow dryer to heat up the rubber covering the knobs. All of the knobs are clear plastic underneath. Once heated up, the rubber will come right off.

And what will that leave me with? I plan to replace the bulb behind it with a blue one. Will that give me the nice blue glow?

It will leave you with clear knobs.
1. Pull knobs (3) off the car by grabbing them and pulling
2. Carefully cut the black rubber off the knobs (or the heat idea)
3. Push knobs (now clear) back onto car.
thats the basics. I left mine clear, so I dont know how to paint them. Above all be very careful not to break them or damage them.

I just saw you were replacing the bulb. Then the new blub will glow right through them. It should look blue that way.

OK... last stupid question. Well probably not, but here goes. How do I get to the lights behind the HVAC panel? How much stuff do I have to disassemble?
I'll think of something cool eventually...

remove the dash pad, and radio bezzel, than remove the two screws holding the hvac panel in, and you will see the two bulbs there... the bulb socket just twists out... now getting the bulbs out is easier said than done... real PITA
if i paint the knobs with stained glass spray paint will that also give a blue look?
you can paint the knobs to give the same effect, I forget what kind of paint is needed though. Just any kind that is thin and translucent.

you dont happen to have any pics of it lit up do you, id like to see how it looks before committing
i think that stained glass paint is what most use

If you replace the bulbs, dont use bulbs lol. Get LEDS. The blue bulbs will look like a greyish green. Also, Red bublbs will look pink. The only colored bubls that actually appear their true color is green, and even those are pretty light.

Then the knobs *when clear during the day*
And then at night...
OK, do I need a special tool for the dash panel or does it just pop off?

i just left mine clear and it shines out white. looks alright to me
