First of all, id like to say hello to all members and I enjoy browsing this site. I have a question about my 98 sunfire gt's keyless entry. My remote works on occasion, it was working fine until a year ago, i changed it for a new one, then it stopped working after 4 months. After a month it worked again for another 3 months, it died again until today when i tried it. Anyone know what could be causing this?

First off hello, Now on to the remote. Sounds like its out of sync, it should tell in your manual but in case you lost it point it the car and press both the lock and unlock buttons at the same time after I want to say 5 seconds the horn should beep. Let off and see if that did it.

don't know how much difference there is but on my 00 it says inside the remote to hold for & seconds, hope it helps out and hidey-ho

prob remote needs to be reprogrammed same thing bappened to me on my 05 cavy. maybe a bad battery to. not getting a good secure connection

You might have a mostly worn out or broken terminal inside the remote.

I was looking for replacement keyless entry remotes not too long ago and I found a site that had them for $29.99 for my 97 Z24. (same remote)

I had them delivered in less than a week and the programming instructions only took maybe 10 seconds?
