i'm trying to move the coil-packs on my '05 Sunfire to the firewall. I'm doing this to get rid of the springs, and so I can run the flamethrower kit my sponsor is sending me. www.extremeflamekitz.com

Mow i know why this is in Newbies.

You cant move your coil packs, you have no spark plug wires on the Eco if i remember correctly. And the springs? I asssume you mean the ones in the boot that acually contact the plugs?

And you cant run a flame thrower kit on a FI engine. The only way it would work correctly is if you have a propane tank in the trunk running the fuel for it.

instead of flaming me, I am not a noob, and I am not dumb. go to the website that I linked to, then post. I plan on puting plug wires on, and the flame kit works by interupting the spar momentarily, then lights the unburned gas, creating the flame, plus, it was designed for FI. Go check it out.

YOU HAVE no plug wires. You have the best way to create spark without losing any energy that you would if you had wires.

AND YES YOU ARE A NEWB.

Ok, your stupid. As i said it wont work and if you dont belive me, do a damn search.

You need another form of fuel source. I guess you wish to burn the crap outta your Cat in the process.

These kits work by placing a spark plug at the END of your exhaust pipe to ignite unburnt fuel. HOWEVER, how much unburnt fuel are you gonna have after the Comp leans out the mix to run properly?

Ok so you want a set of MSD coils and 8.8mm wires huh? WASTE.

GO TO THE SITE, THE LAST LINK WORKS, I CHECKED IT MYSELF, THEY RECOMEND EITHER GUTTING, OR REMOVING THE CAT

Re: moving the coil-packs on the ECOtec

Yes.

Q: Will I have to remove my
cat converter or do any modifications
to my engine?

A: In most cases you will have to gut
or remove the cat and replace with
straight pipes to produce a flame with
our kit. Check with your local laws and
regulations.

Xtreme Flame kits burn your engine's unburnt fuel. The unburnt fuel has been produced by our control module by momentarily interrupting your vehicle’s ignition system. This produces more unburnt fuel through the exhaust. When this happens our spark unit then ignites the fuel producing a 1-8 foot flame from your exhaust.

As i said, you are stupid.

More unburnt fuel, More Crap on your valves, more problems with your O2 sensors, You may get a bad knocking, And od more harm then good. But any real mechanic would know this.

True.

Well the biggest problem I can see is even if the kit can intrupt the spark to allow the
gas to not be burned it will be as soon as it hits the cat. You'l also need to remove it and if you have emisions in your state that won't work.

The propain sugestion mentioned above is the best one I can think of.

I have one question for you tho. What do you plan to do for the plastic bumper? It won't like being that close to flames.

Me want to look like in fast & furious and have flames getting out of my exhaust. I agree with El Fuego for the unburnt fuel, if you want to blow your engine up, it's a good way, there's a reason why the comp don't make you run rich as hell, you'll get a lot of carbon deposit, that will produce knocking and can even make a nice hole in your pistons. And correct me if I'm wrong but the engine won't like it when their module will shut down the sparks...... Hopefully you putted your flamesuit on.... did you?

Ghost, Come on man I wasn't saying that to be mean. True it does sound funny tho.
I was only trying to point out a possible flaw in the plan.
