Hey, First post on this great board ive stayed on the sidelines and just read the information you guys are great so much great help on here cant find help for these problems though.
First Problem HVAC - So ya randomly my HVAC stopped lighting up ive tried playing around with the wires in the back with no luck. I checked the fuses that i thought might have something to do with it and I cant figure it out. Should I just go grab a new one from the junk yard or..... any ideas or previous issues with this.
Second Problem Odometer - Then like 3 days later my odometer on my cluster stopped lighting up lol. In order to see the milage i have to get super close like its still working just no lights to it. Anyways to fix this?
3rd Problem Cooling System - Another thing ive been noticing when my car is sitting my temp rises a bit going like up to 3 notches above the middle of the temp gauge which is 90 degrees celsius thats where it always sits but now i notice its running hotter seems to go down while air is flowing through the rad but as soon as i come to a stop it climbs again ive heard the fan come on so i kno its working but ya any ideas on this one?
Thanks so much for your help guys
Car is a 2001 Chev Cavalier LS just hit the 108000KM mark so shes not that old haha. Just the 2.2 in there not the 2.4
1) replace the lights in it. do a search and you will find out how, if to hard for you, do your junkyard thing.
2) same thing
3) Its normal. If you dont like it, to the fan mod. Check wild weasel for more info.
1 and 2... do u have an aftermarket radio or anything it seems like you would be grounding out the dimmer wire. but you say theres no blown fuses which is very weird.. do the hvac and cluster go at the same time? def sounds lik a lose connection anywhere.
3 is normal
OK ignore the top post im an idiot haha
Ya actually i did have my deck out and we were wiring in my XM radio into the dig inputs and thats when the HVAC console stopped lighting up. The odometer stopped lighting up about a week after the HVAC so I have no idea if it was grounding to the dimmer wire would that not also stop the gauge lights from lighting up also because those still work. Maybe i will just take my deck out again and double check everything and play around with the connections the HVAC at night is really annoying me haha.
Thanks for the help guys
ahh this sucks, i'm having odometer and speedometer problems too chris, its ghey.
hopefully it goes easier for you to figure out than it is for me, its been a total headache thus far.
good luck!

id check the wiring from the radip.. but if it was dimmer i would think it would blow a fuse if grounded. while you have the dash off check all the connections and harness' u can , back of cluster ect..
chris i took my car to the local pontiac dealership and they fixed my car no problem. with fixing that and looking at my front hub they charged me $62
i took the dash apart for them and told them to leave it apart when they were done to cut some cost, so i didnt know if this was something you wanted to do or just try and figure it out for yourself...
