OK, here is my question....my can has the 'anti-theft- system'...ive done my own investigating, and ive found there is a fuse for the anti theft system. im just wondering what this system actually consists of?
If you're asking if it will keep your car from getting stolen, the answer is no. The whole anti-theft thing GM put in our cars is a joke at best. Basically if you replace your cluster or in some years your BCM, you have to reprogram the theftlock. Reprogramming it takes about 12 minutes and can be done in the car without keys if need be (and you know how a cylinder lock on a GM car works).

our anti theft in our cars is basically just to tell the car it has a "key" in the ignition If the car is hot wired or anything it would run for about 5seconds and turn off without a key in the ignition in the "on" position. Regardless it helps but if someone wants your car it wont stop them
Well I like to add, GM's theft systems are pretty good, Even if you have an after market car alarm with ignition kill, All a thieve has to do is get the ignition source turned on, And push start youre car vvvvvmmmmmmmmmmmm its gone, Least Gm has a immobolizor working, I havent seen to many 98 and up cavaliers stolen with out the keys. Most cavaliers getting stolen from 80's to 95's, otherwise they work pretty good.
its a joke like shifted said get a security system to let the amtuers know you have a security system, then lock your hood and trunk down the best you can(to avoid anyone snipping wires, jacking your stereo)...then go out and get a immobilizer there avail through the local insurance companies here. I got one of thous and its saved my car twice this summer already.
thats pretty much all you can do..you could go plexiglass windows remove the door locks for keyless only.
GM has not made the list for the top ten stolen cars in over 15 years, seems to me its working.

Well that can be taken 2 ways...
Either GM cars are hard to steal....
Or (more likely), nobody wants to steal them.

people steal cars because they are either easy (toyota corollas, by the numbers) or integras (because the parts are in huge demand). You can get an acura integras hood popped without opening the door or breaking a window. This is the reason why each of my honda buddies moved their hood release cable. Aside from that you can break in with a close hanger simply by prying the window. Look at the top 10 list, like 5 of them are integras, lol.

Were not talking about popping hoods, I could do it to.
Talking about stealing cars here, GM cars are pretty hard to steal obviously, Integras are not.
