best way to lock it down?
Friday, April 21, 2006 2:25 PM
hey i was wondering whats the best way to keep crack heads from popping my hood and cutting battery wires. So far ive used a big ass chain with a titanium steel lock but the lock and chain tend to rust and scatch the engine bay paint up some.?

I don't remember what its name is, but its made by Smith & Wesson

Oh yeah, a gun....

In seriousness though, invest in a GOOD car alarm with a hidden battery backup in the trunk or something

to move the battery and run new wires 300 bucks, possible chain or modified latch maybe 50 bucks. It doesnt matter if you have a security system or not. security systems dont stop peeps from opening your hood. they could jack a intake, if there a retarded(which most are) start cutting randomn wires etc etc..

want i need is way to keep my hood down incase of a event like this.

when the alarm goes off, it just might scare the roobers away. its better than nothing. get one with a pager so when it does go off you will know it

if a relocation kit cost 500$, you're getting rip. To relocate the battery, it doesn't cost more than 20$.

so is it really crackheads just opening your hood to cut wires? To me it sounds like things we used to do to poeple we didn't like(that equally deserved it), only we shot ball bearings in they're windows via slingshot. But if it's just crackheads, why not watch your car sometime and if you see em, introduce them to your uncle lou.

Try JB Weld in the door jambs. They hate that.

I suppose that where you would put hood pins, you could jerry-rig some sort of hasp which a padlock would go on. Obviously, if there are crackheads cutting your batt wires (for whatever reason) in your neighboorhood, then you don't want to go too much for looks anyways.

I have locking hoodpins on my racecar. It has to sit outside sometimes.. I live in a decent area though. Unless they totally broke my hood, all they could get me for is a couple gauges and my steering wheel. everything else is welded to the floor or the bolts are covered by something welded to the floor. I think I'm going to weld something to protect the gauges too... to hell with the steering wheel, they can have it.
