so i need to cut off like less than an inch of a 1/2"diameter metal rod... what would be the easiest way to do this?
help please?
hacksaw or better yet just use a reciprocating saw..... u know a sawzall
using any of the above methods you could have done this task in the time it took you to walk to the computer and post this. and the only easier way than using the plasma cutter is buying the rod to length.

damn, beat me to it...
get a dremel, you'd be surprised at how many uses you'll find for it.

me 2... and good call on the dremel. dremel with a small cutoff wheel is a perfect combo for little things
We've got a nifty reciprocating hacksaw at work... clamp the work in, turn it on, put it in drive, and go do something else while it does the work for you.

I use a dremel to cut metal quite a bit. Just get some of the little cutting discs and make sure you wear safety glasses when you cut since the discs tend to break and go flying.
