ok this is a stupid ? but aren't the 97 and 98 2.2 motors the same cause i am looking at a racing header for my 97 and this guy is trying to tell me that the 98 2.2 racing header is diff. is this true or what?

The headers should be the same.

The engines are the same displacement, but significantly different.

Yes. For example the exhaust ports on the 2200 (98) are 1/8th inch lower than the ones on the 2.2 (97) So the header doesnt line up right. What kinda header is it? And why doesnt he have the other if he doesnt have one? Or is it a private seller? Pacesetter sells a decently priced header, look at CarCustoms.net or Gravana Tuning or something like that. They should have the right part.

the 2.2l OHV ('95-'97), 2.2l 2200 ('98-'02) and 2.2l Ecotec ('02+) are all the same displacement... that doesn't mean very many parts interchange between them. fact is, a header made for any one of those engines will not fit the others.

you're gonna need a header specifically for a 95-97 2.2l engine.
