New here.

This site was recommended to me by the guys over at ClubCav. I actually don't own a Cavalier but my daughter does. She bought a black on black 1999 back in July. It's her first car and she already has big plans for it. I own a 1971 Camaro. Anyway, Just thought I'd say hello.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have read most of the sticky's already but will be sure to read the rest. Since she is a minor, I will be the one posting for her for now.

This is what it looked like when she bought it. The only thing wrong were a few parkinglot dings and scratches.

This is what it looked like a few days ago. She is taking autobody in school and works at a restoration and custom shop. So she is doing the work herself. She painted the brake drums electric blue, took off the badges and side molding, added a chrome tailpipe.

This is what it looked like yesterday after someone hit her in the school parkinglot. She found it that way as she was leaving school. She ran back in and showed her shop teachers and the Dean of Students. They are going to reveiw the tapes from the cameras. Hopefully they will find out who did it.

She plans on a few modifications. Of course it depends on the pocketbook. She wants to keep the Black Mist color but may put in some blue pearl. Also, she wants to put some kind of graphic down the sides in blue. Santa is bringing her a few items. He had to make an early delivery of the clear corners since one got broken in the accident. She would have loved to put a body kit on but it was waaayyy down at the bottom of the wish list ($$$) but since she has to replace her bumper now, it may be more of a realization, I don't know...

This is "my" baby! you can see more about it at: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/146487

Thanks!

I am a proud parent! From what her Boss tells me she is good at it too. He is very meticulous so it's a big compliment!

Welcome to the Org. Your daughter sounds like she's got a pretty good headstart on things so at least she'll be saving money if she continues to do her own work. You'll find alot of helpful information amongst alot of repeat posts but there are always members willing to help people out (and there are members who'll flame you for anything you do wrong) so don't get discouraged if someone nags on you to search (we've all been there). Tell your daughter good work on the car and good luck with what she plans to do with it and you have a really nice Camaro. I'm attempting to find a '70 to restore but that'll wait til I'm out of college. Once again, welcome to the .org.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Vincent, that is one beautiful Camaro!!! You should check out my club's website: www.EastCoastCamaroClub.com.

I have a question.... how do you guys (and girls), with body kits, go over speed bumps or do you avoid them at all costs??

From what I understand, avoid at all costs or go really slow.

Depends on how low the car is and how high the speed bump is
