Bra
Monday, December 11, 2006 7:46 PM
Hi guys,
I am going to be doing a lot of long road trips here over the next couple years, and I want my paint to look good when it is all done. Now that winter is here, I have been noticing the patterns of dirt on my 05 Cav, and I think a bra would help protect it a lot. I decided LeBra is the best company through research. I have found for my car they have two models. They have "with front spoiler" and "without front spoiler." My car is a LS (Sport?) and I looked at the window sticker and it says I have Lower Ground Effects or something of that nature.

Here is a pic of my car.

Do I have a lower front spoiler?

Just don't leave the bra on your car all the time. They're good for temporary use on road trips, or such... but if you leave them on all the time they will trap dirt and ruin your paint. Not only that, but leaving htem on all the time will cause the paint to fade over time everywhere BUT where the bra is, and you'll need to repaint the front end eventually to get everything even.

But yeah, trapping all that dirt under the bra is NOT good for the paint. (I'm talking from auto body experience)

Yeah. Totally understandable. I will only be using it for the college school year. Usually it is really cloudy anyway (pretty long winter). During the summer it will always be off the car.

So I for sure have a front spoiler?

yes you have a front spoiler. The added lip would be considered one.

Anybody know anything about that spray on protectant? Looks like a crappy solution, but I've seen what bras do, and they're bad news over long periods of time as noted already.

There is a site (forget what it is) that sells clear bras for our '03+ cavs with the sport front bumper. It is a clear sheet of pastic that just sticks on (kinda like clear tape). They sell headlight covers that stick on that you can get in clear, yellow, and smoked i think. They also sell foglight covers that stick the same way in yellow, clear and a few other colors. They are all made by the same company and are relatively cheap. A clear bra would definitely look better than any other kind. They all are designed to help with rock chips etc.

Ok, found the post. Here is the LINK. The lighting kit comes with both the headlight/fog light covers and you can choose the different colors there. Definitely go with something like this if you feel you have to have a bra. And here is the thread where I got the info from.

Who's talkin'?

In case anyone searches for this like I did, here it is. Its nice, drove 175 miles today, doesn't flap at all at 78 MPH and saved the bumper from a few good hits. It fits pretty well, but there is one spot on the drivers side that its not a perfect fit. The wrinkles are smoothing out, and as it stretches more I think it will actually fit to the car a little better.

Sorry about the crummy picture.

yes you do have it and le bra is the company to go with. i got it ahead of the release date for my cav same color ls as you and it looks soo nice. they strech out and smooth out after a while but when you get it you will love it just if its is cold out bewarned it is leather and it will contract a bit so do it in a garge or on a warm day it clamps to the bottom of the spoiler with 3 hooks two up in the grill and 3 in each wheel well use a 10 mm bolts and the also in the wells one on each side clips just pull into place. the hood peice goes on and ties across the under hood and one strap to each corner of the back hood near hinges. have fun .
