headlight bulbs
Wednesday, January 24, 2007 5:06 PM
I bought a set of light bulbs off ebay about 8 months ago. One went out last night so i went to Oreilyes (sp) and got one and put it in and wasn'nt bright enough only 50Watts compared to the other bulbs which is at 100Watts. So took it back and tried another one and the lady said something about taking the bulb out of the housing or something to that effect to get it brighter? Is that true or what did she mean? Thank you much.

ok stop!! now back away from the headlights
the stock output on J's is 55w/65w IIRC, NOT 100WATTS!!
you're risking frying you're wiring harnesses using those 100w bulbs
if you want brighter bulbs do it right and get a HID kit

not only do you risk frying the wiring harness, you could also melt the housing

o ok lol so could that explain why my E brake light is on along with my abs light. When I put those headlight bulbs in it must have done something? Or is that even possible fot that to effect those lights in my dash?

nothing to do with the lights. possibly your abs sensor went out, brake fluid low, number of any problems. you have to take your car to your friendly neighborhood chevy stealership and see what caused those brake codes to come up

if you want bright bulbs over oem and cant afford the hid kit get the sylvania ultra whites i have them in both my cavs and they to me are great and bright. how ever my friend has a 04 sunfire with a hid conversion and i have not seen the lit yet thats is because the balasts in the right side of the kit went after only a week of use now he has one head light. i beleive that the drls might have played a role in it but any way cheap yet qaility get the slyvania ultras....
