hey everyone, new to the forum and just wanted to say hi and ask a pretty broad question.
I have a 2001 Silver Cavalier Coupe. 2.2L Automatic. What can be done to this car. I am mostly into car audio, on which end I dont really need help. but performance wise I am pretty much a noob. what kind of things are possible?
welcome. you're gonna have to be more specific than that. The possibilities are endless if you have the money or the skills to do it yourself.
good place to start..........

Welcome to the site BTW
the first think i got was a cold air intake
i dont care what you drive lets race
Most of the "performance" mods out there for the 2200's will probably do little more than make it much noisier (air intake, exhaust), or feel rougher (engine mounts). If you want to get into boost or engine swaps, then your imagination is the limit. There's not really too much "drop-in" stuff that will make a night/day difference in performance numbers - but many can certainly affect your wallet.
You'd probably be better spending any "extra" money on upgrading, or replacing worn suspension parts, and maybe upgrading the tire/wheel package for summer use. Better tires really make these cars drive and handle much differently. Without spending a lot on engine/transmission you're not likely to find much difference, but these can make the car nicer to drive, and with the right rims, really change the appearance too. They also won't add unwanted noise to your listening experience with any upgraded sound system you are putting in.
Any modifications are a totally personal thing though - so don't let any of us influence you specifically one way or another. At least the way your car is now, it should deliver decent gas mileage and durability - but without putting some real work into it, that engine will never be a real "screamer". There's really no limit to what "can" be done to the car - that's entirely up to your desire and budget. Just have fun, and remember it's a "hobby" not an "investment".
