Hello everyone I am not a newbie,I have my moments however I cannot find the thermostat of 99 Sunfire 2.2L? any ideas? can someone take pic of their sunfire ? or something ? thank you I need to change the thermostat
bare with me while i try to explain but like rich said its above the water pump. standing in front of your car look on the front left side of the motor. you'll see a triangular piece with 3 bolts in it. its right in there once you remove the 3 bolts.
Thank you all but I have found it before you made a reply to my post now I have another problem after replacing the thermostat the car is now heating over the limit very close to the red line what is the reason for that? I bought my thermostat from CanadianTire for 12.00 dollars many people have told me that the thermostat is not functioning properly ? any ideas?
All I did is open the bolts take out the old thermostat replace it with the new one alot of the old fluid was coming out that's pretty much it.
please reply ASAP!
did you make sure you put the thermostat in the correct way and not backwards? also you mite have to burp your coolent system.
Yes thats it I always hear water burping inside when the car is on how do I burp the coolant system? and I don't think that I put the thermostat in the wrong way.is there a bleeder or something ? that i have to release trapped air ?
wait a 99 2.2 the thermy is in the front of the engine...
to "burp" the system. Jack the passenger side up and remove the coolant cap. fill and then start the car...jacking it up makes it the highest point and the bubbles should start coming out

I tried that I filled it up with coolant and opened the cap still the same thing but i can hear water that is trapped or that needs to be released when i am inside the car i hear burping lol.
you tried jacking it up too? you can squeese on the hoses too and help it along. just dont let it get too hot or you will blow the head gasket
