Hi guys, Im new here (obviously.. lol) I will be buying a 97 Cavy 2.2L from my grandfather in april or so, and I wanted to join a community so if I need any help, I can easily get it. First order of buisness.. It has the stock 2.2L Inline 4 engine. With 130,000 miles on it its gotten slighltly more anemic than it was new... Im planning on throwing in some E3 Diamondfire Spark plugs, a K&N Air filter (not cold air intake, just the filter). He just put new tires on it (Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge) and from what I have read on the tirerack, they are good tires so I wont have to worry about them. It has the 3-speed auto too. With a limited budget, is there anything else I can do to increase performance some? I know it wont ever be super fast, but I timed it, 0-60 was like, 13 seconds. Just a little bit slower than I would like, lol

Oh, yeah... Does anyone know how to install a tach gauge in one of these? Even though its the atuo and I dont really need it, I would like to grab a cheap one from NAPA or something, and stick it on the dash.. problem is, I know alot about the mechanical and could fix most engine problems.. I havent a clue when it comes to things like the tach, and simialar. I have plenty of time to figure it out, but Im hoping someone might have a how-to or some such detailing the procedure.. Thanks =)

Intake and exhaust(2.25") are the easiest mods.

As for the tach...

...Thats everythin you need to know except you can swap in any 96-98 Cav cluster w/ tach.

Hmm... I dont know. Maybe Ill just wait a bit, and do the cluster replacement. As for a CAI, I cant find the cheap one I did before, the only one I can find is $200. Im thinking just a K&N Filter. How well do the E3 spark plugs work?

If AC Delco factory replacements were'nt available, I'd run E3 plugs... Factory ACDelco replacements would be the best, though. As for making it a bit more responsive, an intake and exhaust is a good starting point.

Clusters are usually about $50. I'd go with a Ram Air Intake if you're worried about price, they're about $40 on eBay
