Welcome.

I'm sure you are well aware of the 2.2 OHV head gasket and cracking head issues. Just choose wisely. These engine shoe horned into the engine bay sideways are a tad harder to work on than sitting in the relative spacious engine room of the S10 !!

Good Luck

Well..... i don't know much about that model/year cavaliers since my first cavy was a 96 2.2 auto, second one was a 01 z24 5 speed and my current car is 02 sport coupe cavalier, but it looks like a good project for the price.

If i was you i would try and restore it like the one in the first pic except with better looking sport rims, but keeping the orginal car color if they still make it.

let us know what the plans are for your new purchase

since my 2000 cavalier got totalled....been in there for a couple weeks now.....but no good info....no new posts,
i always see the same old stuff! ...and for the life of me, cannot find where to make my own posts!!!!!
how do you post a topic up there???????????????????????????????????

as for the car, i would restore to original.
then bigger brakes.
then lower.
rims.
hi-flow cat and cat back.
then work on interrior
like sound system, window tint,
racing seats.
then the best mod of all TURBO that biotch!

Why would you expect any response at 3:35 AM after a Saturday night? Some people here have lives to live ...

First, I would clean it from top to bottom. Then tackle any maintenance issues to make it reliable. Good luck.

Well first youre in the newbies forum which isnt the most active of all the forum. And try posting in 2nd Gen though it also isnt a highly trafficked forum.

ok u've had responses now stop complaining.
now on to opinions, as stated clean it first. EVERYTHING.
then, well where do you wanna go from there? what's ur big plan with this car? if ur looking at redoing the interior y don't u do some reading in the interior forum?
if ur looking at making it go faster,............performance forum maybe? don't just sit in here and laugh at how dead ur thread is and say no one's giving u advice, do some research. then ask questions.
Good luck on the project man, that car actually has a lot of potential to b a really nice ride.

Check out V6Z24.com for second gen forums. Lot of knowledge for your car on that site. Good job on getting the 5spd, the automatics in second gens were 3spd.
