When I fool around on the street and dump the clutch between 2k and 4k, I spin like crazy, I laid a 40ft patch of rubber on freshly sealed asphalt once....
At the track, traction is much much better.
Which leads to my question....
I'm running street tires, nitrogen filled at 40psi if I remember correctly.
Power to the wheel is around 130hp.
How far can I push my car before I have to worry about breaking axles or other parts?
Keep in mind I'm not trying to break my axles, I'd just like to know what my limits are.
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
You'll blow up your differential way before your break an axle. I was putting over 200 horse to mine back in 2001, they have been seeing more and more power every year with no fuss.
BTW I grenaded the diff puttin 146 to it, but I was racing every weekend on drag radials.

Your axles wouldn't take the fall at all. Just your tires, trans, and brakes.
