Hi all,
Check out my video of a couple 0-60 passes today. If you all have a stop watch, let me know what you are clocking my time as.
This is a bone stock LN2 2.2 OHV from a 96 S-10. It probably has about 90k miles on the engine, although you can see the car has more!
The transmission is all the guts from a 93 Storm Gsi with the 4.117 FDR and the close ratio.

Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
dennis

Somewhere between 8 and 9 seconds.

Here's the thing though. MOST cars stock can do 60+ in 2nd gear. This is because the 0-60 time is so important in damn magazines and everything that they just make the cars this way. Typically gearing ilke that will help your 0-60 and hurt your 1/4 mile. So, I'm wondering what your 1/4 time looks like.

i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick

Hey thanks!
I've measured it at 8.4 for the first and 8.5 for the second. The first had a slight downhill in the second half of the run. The second was on pretty flat.

I know that it picked up 4 mph in my measured 1/8 mile after I did the 4.11 FDR and close ratio. With the original 3.58 FDR the rev limit would kick in at 58 mph, so it still required a shift to get to 60. Now the rev limiter kicks in at 28 in first with the 4.11; 48 in second. The taller ratios of 1st and 2nd, coupled with the 4.11 really helped.

I have a place where I can run a 1/8 mile, but it's downhill. I've measured 10.8 seconds at 71 mph. On a flat place, but not as well measured, I showed 11 flat and 68 mph.

I'll be putting a head gasket on it this weekend, all being as planned. I may get the head milled about .030 per Mad Jack's recommendation, and clean up the ports some. Downside to that is no car for however long the machine shop takes. The good part if it takes a few days is that I might make a bigger plenum and install a 4.3 throttle body. All of it controlled by the Megasquirt 3, v3.57 I've got sitting in a box. Plenty of ambition, but may/may not have time or energy.

Makes me want a 4.11 FDR... time to surf car-part... haha

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

I swapped the entire gear set, not just the 4.117 FDR.

That turned out kind of ugly and hard to read. The first two numbers are the number of gear teeth on the primary/secondary gear shafts, respectively. Then their ratio. Next is the FDR, and last is the total ratio.

Yup, I'm running a 1 piece synchro swap from the SOHC Storm, short ratio 3rd and 4th from the 2.2 Isuzu, the 2.4 FDR and a storm diff.

I'm curious, does the DOHC first and second gear use 1 piece or 3 piece synchros?

I expected to see 1 piece but the tranny I got had 3 piece. This wasn't that big a deal to me. My syncros in the original transmission had over 270k miles and looked fine. The only thing that was bad in the original tranny were the spider gears.
